Range rover tdv8 no power at all

If you've already blanked the EGR valves and smoke tested the engine, I'd start looking for an exhaust blockage, like the DPF.

    Locking transfer box to 4x4

I'm learning alot here... Thanks for the replys. Unless I'm on grass, mud or snow, leave the diff lock alone.

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Today I fitted a Weber Edelbrock, and ditched the 390 Holley. I suppose I will eventually rebuild the Holley.

Range Rover 3.9 ltr elf in a 90 - not starting

After reading the comments, I could not get the possibility of a faulty coolant temperature sensor out of my head. Many years ago, I changed a alternator on a 3.9 disco, little did I know at the time but I damaged the plug on top of the coolant temp sensor, which is located right behind the...

    Fuel trim diagnostics

A short term fuel trim that high, I would be looking for a vacuum leak on bank 1, as the ECU is seeing a lean condition, It could be as simple as a faulty lambda sensor, maybe a cracked or blowing exhaust manifold. Too much oxygen is being read by the lambda sensor, I'd start by looking for a...

    Locking transfer box to 4x4

Thanks everyone for the reply's... My 110 is 1988 with the santana LT85 box Well it just goes to show, that I obviously had no idea how my transmission actually worked, I was always under the illusion, my Landy was 2wd until I moved the transfer gear stick to the left and the orange light came...

    Locking transfer box to 4x4

Hi all, I don't usually (almost never) put my 110 V8 into 4 wheel drive, but thought to myself today, I will put it into 4x4 and go for a drive to Tesco to get the oil circulating round diff and transfer box. I faced a few problems today whilst in 4 wheel drive. 1) Whilst in the carpark of...

Disco 2 v8 keeps cutting out randomly

Interesting... I've literally got the exact same fault on my 1988 Land Rover... It will start and sit there idling, then decides to turn its self off, starts straight back up afterwards... Again, I could be driving down the road and all of a sudden, nothing, like I've turned the ignition off...

    Composite head gasket skimming

I know it's been a few years since my last post, but here us an update... DONT DO IT...!!!! Skimming 20 thou off the head, and using a composite head gasket altered the compression ratio, and made the engine run very juicy, it was almost impossible to tune, I dread to think how it also altered...

    Composite head gasket skimming

Bitten the bullet, heads are in the machine shop having 40 tho (1mm) skimmed off them... I will report back once I have them fitted...

    Composite head gasket skimming

Some information taken for "How to power tune Rover V8 engines, states 40 thou is the difference between tin and composite heads... So it seems I will be skimming 40 thou off them...

    Composite head gasket skimming

Dunno if this is going to help anyone, but I discovered this whilst searching. The composite type heads can be checked by taking these measurements: I measured my tin gasket heads with a vernier and my heads were 1mm thicker. Ive just bought some HRC2210 heads, which supposedly they are...

    Composite head gasket skimming

My engine is in a Land Rover, and I think my compression ratio is quite low anyway something like 8.13.1, I don't think I can afford to lose anymore...

    Composite head gasket skimming

So the general advice is just to reface the heads rather than skimming 20 thou off...

    Composite head gasket skimming

Another question, How can I tell if my heads have been skimmed previously by someone else, and I take 20 thou off when someoneelse has tsken 8 thou off, so unknowingly ive enddd up with a 28 thou skim...?

    Composite head gasket skimming

8 thou, that sounds like just a normal refacing skim. I think I will Have 20 thou 0.508mm taken off my heads as the composite gadget is 1/2mm thicker than the standard tin gasket, that should ensure my inlet manifold will still fit, snd my compression ratio will stay slmost yhe same.

    Composite head gasket skimming

Hello all, By any chance does someone on here know the amount the standard SD1 3.5 heads have got to be skimmed to take composite head gaskets to retain the original compression ratio...? Ive read many different posts from good ole Google, and from what I read 30-40 thou should be skimmed...
