Have you checked/changed the sensor itself

My 2.0L TD4 wouldn't get any where near 38mpg unless I pushed it off a cliff........now funnily enough...... Actually if my turbo has been acting up for a while that would probably explain the poor fuel economy.

It needs diagnostics plugged in to be sure.....my cheapo ( about £50) Autel can read the freelander auto box on my TD4.....and it pointed out the 2-4 brake duty solenoid as being faulty, I replaced it and gearbox has been fine since......yeah OK turbo blew up a couple of years later but that's...

It rattles when you shake it and you can see the impellers bouncing off the sides...... :eek:

Well I eventually ( after a break ) got the turbo out.....as expected the wheels are rattling about loose. Assuming housings are in decent nick is it better to just renew the core or get a complete 2nd hand turbo......new is out of the question ( too expensive ).

Thanks Andy, much appreciated. I have got one of the exhaust bolts off ( through the wheel arch ) other one is a bit more troublesome, I can get a socket on it easy enough but little room to get a breaker bar or ratchet onto it to turn it. Probably get this done before disconnecting that oil...

Have managed to disconnect the air inlet pipe ( fairly easy ) and the outlet pipe (rubber hose came off eventually. Just trying to get a socket onto the banjo bolt to remove oil inlet then the oil outlet ( when I find it ! ) Then it will be the exhaust connection....which looks like fun....got...

How complicated is to take off, from underneath on axle stands ?

What happens if you lock it with the drivers door open using the fob and then shut the door afterwards....read somewhere that can disable the internal sensor ?

Giving it a go with the IRD still in place ( I am a coward ) Got the air inlet to the turbo off and a load of oil came out of the turbo.....I am guessing thats not good

Took the under tray off......how in the name of god are you supposed to get to that turbo.....can hardly even see it ? :confused:

I have been under it before when I changed the solenoid in the Auto box.....have stands and trolley jack. I know the turbo has an oil connection is it likely to pee out....should I drain the oil first...and is there a coolant connection as well ?

The pipe coming from the turbo to the intercooler if soaking with oil......I guess its time to look at the turbo. Not the easiest place to get to.....:(

Driving down dual carriageway this morning with no issues, came to some stationery traffic and noticed a bit of a vibration through wheel and car, went to pull away and loss of power and extreme smoke billowing out of back. Luckily next to junction so pulled off and extreme vibration through car...

I just taped another spanner to the 15/16....worked fine

Fitted a new tailgate handle......last one had been repaired twice so got sick of it and put me hand in me pocket....

I believe that is the usual culprit ( it was on mine ), however its still worth doing the resistance tests as mentioned previously to eliminate any possible wiring issues first.

Does the display match the position of the gearstick ...Park, Drive , reverse etc ?
