Hi all, looking at replacing the gearbox oil on the p38. Any one tell me what oil is best to use please. Vehicle is on P reg 2.5 auto. Cheers all.

Nice one cheers guys. I have been toying with scraping it, but after a half n hour with my brother I have decided to carry on and get it back on the road.

So I've finally got the p38 to run and sorted the timing out on the pump but for some reason it's very smokey. But been thinking what's the difference between the p38 and the l322 engine bays and running gear. Are the engine mounts the same place, etc. Basically my idea is to take the M51...

Can't beat the Chinese diesel heaters. Got one in my caravan. And works a treat, just need to reposition the pump and when it's on full power, you can hear it though the van. Also got one in my work van, as I spend the week driving around the UK and Europe. Did try tapping in to the fuel line...

Battery is a old battery, so will be changing for a new one. I'm going the to get the garage to to time the pump and I'll see what happens from there. Cheers

Evening all, so my p38 2.5 (bmw engine) on a 96 plate, auto, keeps stalling when I put it in drive or 1st. I've just replaced the injector pump, (need it timed) and got it running after being parked for about a year. Ive noticed that the dash keeps flashing gearbox overheat, yet the car hasn't...

Hi @Wazzajnr, just wondering if you could help me. Trying to download the rave manual for the p38. I've gone down to the rave-lr bit, it will open the front page with all the models in Dropbox but then I cant seem to select the range rover. Am I doing something wrong? Any help please.

Afternoon all. Hope your Sunday is going well. I've been looking for a Haynes manual for my 1996 range rover p38 2.5, I've searched the Web and fleabay even dreaded halfords, with no luck. Question is, is there a workshop manual for these please. Cheers Barry

No mot, and it don't seem to drive. It starts up and runs, but when you select drive or 1st (automatic) it just stalls. I am working my way though the threads in the range rover section see if anyone else has had the same problem, before asking.

I belive its oe, all stamps are the same as the old one. All runs, it did take a few cranks to get it to fire along with a bit of sniff to get it to fire up. Im going to see what work is like this week and get it loaded on the trailer and taken to the garage to get the fuel pump timed

I got it from the p38 Facebook page. A lads motor had overheated. Paid £60 posted.

I did check the chain and seems tight. I never timed it as thought using the M51 fuel pump removal tool the timing would be OK. I will have to get the garage to come look. The only picture I have at the moment is the one in this post. I will be planning on getting more soon after I've replaced...
