I've seen a recovery setup - admittedly American, and on a Jeep - where there is a detachable system, which means you can fit either a normal tow ball hitch for towing or swap for a Nato style if you want recovery mode. Anyone got any pics or experience of anything like this on a Series?

Got some good quality recovery eyes of the "D" type, with 4 bolt holes per eye. I realise that they are fitted through the bumper bolt holes in the chassis, but as there are only 2 each side on my Series 3, am I missing something or is it simply a matter of drilling 2 extra holes to suit...

Hi all. My Series 3 has a few gearbox issues and, given I have a spare, lying quietly in the barn, I was wondering if we might use it. It has a plate screwed to the bellhousing that identifies it as a "Factory Rebuilt Unit" and has Part no. 600917 1, and serial number; K11571. Any ideas?
