Sorry for the late reply. You were spot on. The smaller cable had a block on the end at the starter which had a poor connection where the wire had worked loose. The wire was worn at the connection. Had no issues after cutting the wire back and new connection put on. I'd looked at everything...

    Help!!!

Hi gents (and ladies) I have an 04 Freelander 2.0 with the BMW diesel engine. It's just passed its MOT. I've had a boiling water sound when I stop the engine for a few days, earlier I checked the engine and there was no water in the bottle at the back left. There is no mayo I'd have expected in...

Freelander 1.8 K series hgf - more data

Many thanks for the info on the gasket. The Victor Reinz had been suggested as being the best option for the 1.8 petrol on this site. As with most items people mention what worked for them. The engine has a leak of oil in places. No usual white/creamy mess in the oil as yet. Just a thought...

Freelander 1.8 K series hgf - more data

Noted this is an old post. I am curious though. Was this mainly in the earlier Freelander 1 series or cover all 1.8 rover engines. I ask as I have a 2005 with 98,000 on the clock and still no HGF. I had thought about just putting it in to my local specialist garage and having a Victor Raynes...

    Td4 issue

Good morning guys. I have a 2004 TD4 2.0. No battery light shows yet on mornings it seems to have no power just won't tick over although the battery is new and starting motor tries to engage. Some mornings there is nothing others shows electrics and starts fine. I also have a 1.8 3 door with...

    Clutch change.

Started off having issues going into second. Went in fine and pulled away while stationery. It has recently started grinding while going into reverse. Had been fine until the past couple of weeks.

Freelander 1.8 K series hgf - more data

I know this is an old post. It does make me wonder though. I have a 1.8 hardback with 96800 miles on the clock with three owners. Thing is it is on the original head gasket. I have only just changed the thermostat only because I wondered why one of the hoses on the rad had been cold after...

    Clutch change.

Good evening gents. We have picked up a 1.8 2005 Freelander for my wife which is the hardback version. Not sure if that matters tbh. The gears are just not right and I can only put it down to the clutch needing replaced. Can anyone advise on the best clutch kit to purchase and a rough price I'd...

    All Terrain Tyres

Many thanks. Id asked the local tyre/exhaust garage although they couldn't find anything for the 255/55/17. Had me a little confused as I'd seen another 2005 with them fitted. Any idea of makes of tyre?

    All Terrain Tyres

Hi guys. I have been looking for all terrain tyres to fit the hippo which have 17" rims on it 255/55 although finding it hard to find anything. Is there a set size of wheel for the all terrain tyres or any advice on where to find some. Not sure if we need to change the wheels to get the tyres...

    Freelander problem - overheating

Many thanks. I had noticed a good bit of rust on the main sub frame although nothing to serious. A bit surprised as the engine guard is still in situ and in good condition. The sills are in good condition at the moment for a 2005. The salt they put on the roads is ridiculous up here, not...

    Freelander problem - overheating

Simply most people who have a good knowledge of the landrover are happy to advise people who have less knowledge. The benefits of having sites like this. The ones with helpful comments are a mass of knowledge. I'm absolutely positive you had your first landy at some point and had no idea of its...

    Regional... Scotland

Nicola is a bloody fraud, shouting about a free Scotland and stating she wants to stay in the EU. Read the Lisbon agreement. In around 2025 ALL member states/countries within the EU turn all of their borders, financial industries, fishing areas, law and sell out to be ruled by Brussels. Where is...

Good independent Land rover garages in Edinburgh & Glasgow areas

Many thanks, I'll look them up. A rover engine in a landy, go figure. Gone from bullet proof diesel to a massive failure of the K engine.

Alote of smoke from exhaust and lose of power

I'd put rotting eggs smell down to a cat issue myself but I'm no mechanic, does sound like a fecked turbo, only other area I've seen blue smoke is the gaskets blown. I've never had that issue with my land rovers though. Wife's impreza did do the same when her turbo failed though.
