I've had it off and all knowing google tells me its a dim dip resistor cotrol unit as jamesmartin says above... It has lucas 37801B stamped onto it. Mine wasnt connected to anything though so I'm not 100% sure why it was in there!

The Halfords where I live doesn't have the greatest selection of anything, I went in looking for MTF 94 and was told the MVMTF Plus 75W90 was perfectly acceptable for the job. Lesson Learned: don't listen to the halfords sales assistant when it comes to substitute oils.

Hi Nodge, Thanks for coming back to me. Its a 2005 TD4 engine. What I think I will do is drain the box and replace the oil with 10W40 engine oil to tide me over till the weekend and get some MTF94 on Saturaday. Thanks.

Hello all, I've had a bad release bearing so pulled the lot out replace the bearing and the clutch. We have the gear box offered up and is lining up but will not slide in the last 3 or 4 (ish) cms. Any advice would be appreciated. Michael
