Freelander 1 FL1 Spares / Repair Project in Mid Cornwall (Possible easy fix)

Is anyone interested in a spares / repair project car for cheap in Mid Cornwall? Some friends have a 54 plate TD4 S 3dr in Silver, which they have owned since new I believe. I am not sure of the exact specs but it has nice wheels on it. Recently they had the clutch pedal go straight to the...

Freelander 1 Rear end knocking.. (Solved)

I have a nasty knock coming from behind me when on full lock (or a lot of lock) either way while going forward. Almost certain it's a rotational knock. Crawled under and had a look around and noticed that the centre diff mount was broken and the diff could move around quite a bit. Replaced that...

Freelander 1 Spare Wheel - Cover or not?

Took my cover off the spare wheel other day and it got me thinking whether to bother putting it back on...my other half says she thinks it looks better without it. What's peoples views and are there any advantages / disadvantages or having one or not?

    Freelander 1 Alloy Wheel Question

I have 16" 5 spoke alloys on the car ('05 TD4), I think they are called Freedom. I noticed that my spare (taken from my old '01 1.8) has small holes between the wheel nut holes, but the four on the car don't. Does any one know the reason for the holes (or dimples)? Cheers

Freelander 1 Dash Cam Wiring with pics

I noticed that there were quite a few posts asking about hard wiring a dash cam. I have just done mine and I thought I'd post a brief guide with pics of how I did it and how straight forward it was so that others won't be put off doing it. I ordered a 12v to 5v converter and one of those piggy...

    Fuse box cover?

I noticed on my fuse box cover on the right hand side there looks like a small clip / holder for something (where the Land Rover Emblem is), any one know what should be there? I wondered if it would be one of those things for pulling the fuses out but that's in it's own space in the fuse...

    Tyre Advice

I have four identical tyres on the car at the moment, they were fitted mid to late 2017. I got the car early 2018 and sorted a few problems which caused the tyres to wear unevenly (vcu issue, slow puncture on another etc), all is now fine. The problem I have is that the rear pair have approx. 7...

    Freelander 1 Powerfold mirror problem

Hi all, Got back to the car the other day to see that the drivers side wing mirror had been pushed / smacked in. Didn't think much of it at the time, just moved it out to normal and drove home. Then decided to make sure that the power fold still worked, which it did, or so I thought. Both...

    Tailgate window mech

Hi all, My tailgate window mech has been making some grumbling noises recently and today it got stuck half way. It would raise about an inch then stop and drop an inch. I assumed that the cables had gone inside and luckily I had a spare set in the shed. I took the whole assembly out and...

    Tyre Advice

Hello all, I have four matched recent tyres all with very good tread, only done a couple of thousand miles tops. One has developed a slow puncture so I will take it to get checked (it's the front left). I've never managed to get a puncture in a repairable place before, it's always been on the...

    VCU Query

Hi Everyone, I have just done the VCU test on the back wheel....took around a second to drop from the top to the floor. I thought this would be the case as I could turn the wheel by hand with very little resistance. I checked the prop underneath and as I turn the wheel the prop rotates, as does...

    Freelander radio code

Hi everyone, I have the CD multichanger double-din head unit on an '05 Freelander but I have no code. The radio currently works properly but I am concerned that if the battery goes flat or gets disconnected for some reason, I will not have a working radio. Is there a way of finding the code...

Clicking / light knocking from rear when braking

Hi all, I have noticed that under braking (seems at low speeds only) there is a clicking / knocking noise coming from what appears to be the n/s rear wheel. It's like a heavy click / light knock and not like a scrape. It doesn't do it when not braking. Could it be anything to do with the...

    Drivers Seat Wiring

Hello, I have recently acquired a 05 plate TD4, while having a nose around it I noticed that there were a load of wires loose under the driver seat. There's a couple of what look like audio input connectors and a few plugs. Can anyone give me an idea of what these are? I have traced the heated...

    New to the Forum

Hello I am new to the forum. I have just acquired an 05 plate Freelander TD4. My first ever diesel - I get scared when looking in the engine bay! Used to petrols (recently had a Freelander 1.8 until the inevitable happened with the head gasket). Any hints or tips on what to look out for with...
