    Td5 90 exhaust

Just replaced the centre section on the exhaust, all fine, needed to replace the rear as well, how do you get the out?? Ended up cutting it up as it was destined for the bin anyway, but seems pretty fiddly and awkward to get out. Anything need removing to make it easier? Anti roll bar? Gotta...

    Tight wheels

Wire brush and copper are the next things to try, grinder is on standby! Hadnt thought about the cold, the hubs were warm I’d guess but can’t see it’s make much difference. Hub would warm the alloy! Can see where your coming from tho. Ideally a cold hub and warm wheel!!

    Tight wheels

Yeah knew alloys usually hold on the hub as well as the nuts, just seems really tight. It’s ok unless I get a puncture!!! Now added a wooden block and the rubber mallet to the tool kit!

    Tight wheels

They were used. No corrosion tho. Came off a 2010 defender 90. Different hubs possibly?

    Tight wheels

Bought a set of alloys to go on my td5 90, the steels went on and off fine, but the alloys (off a 2010 90) are a really tight fit. They go on ok but coming off they need a whack with a rubber mallet to get them moving. There’s a slightly raised edge on the inside of the hub, seems to be what’s...

    Intermittent wiper relay

Is it these that are a pain to get at? Easy to fit but have to take half the dash out? My intermittent doesn’t work at all and the wiper just stops where ever it wants! Will this sort the stop position as well??

    Td5 and lifting it up!

Not really, I did put on the original post the ground clearance wouldn’t hurt but I like the look! Also put I wanted to know about the whys and what’s of lifting one and what effect it had. Want to understand what’s going on underneath. No point lifting it if it’s going make it a nightmare on...

    Td5 and lifting it up!

There’s a local off road club that I might join as well, they’ve got a range of courses from what they call Freelander friendly to full expedition courses. Going to have a look at the weekend and see how many they say I’ll be ok on as standard. As for Shooting, I’m liking the idea of another...

    Td5 and lifting it up!

Still new to all the defender things, I’ve got a td5 90 and want to get it lifted. I use it to go shooting etc not off road days and that sort of thing, but a bit of extra clearance wouldn’t hurt, plus I like the look! I’ve got 285/75-16 tyres on there if it makes any difference. What’s the...

    Found my windows open

Yeah there’s nothing in there to get other than a child seat and a can of de icer!!! I’ve got one of those cheap lock things that goes over a pedal so it can’t be used. Just wondered if it was a known way they get broken into??

    Found my windows open

Went out to my defender 90 td5 this morning, and as I drive off realised the passenger window was open about an inch and the drivers one was open about 1/4 of an inch. I don’t remember opening them yesterday so am now worried someone has tried to get in it overnight?? Anyone know if it’s a way...

    Droney steering

Sounds like it’s nothing much to worry about. Working my way round changing all the oils, bit chilly in the garage at the minute tho!!!!!

    Droney steering

Pretty much all the time when it’s cold but just nearer full lock when it’s warmer

    Droney steering

Had my 90 for a month and it’s developing a few “characteristics” as they do! At low speed and particularly when it’s cold the steering drones if I need to turn sharp (like a u turn or 3 point turn) Anything simply I can look for? Been told possibly steering pin oil/grease, had a quick look at...

    Flaps

i need new flaps!! Went to replace a mud flap today and as I undid the 8mm bolts that hold the bracket on they I did a bit then just seemed to spin! Couldn’t see how to get at the nuts tho?? Are they suppose to be captive or wellnuts or is there a trick to getting at the nuts??

    New rear cross member

A mate noticed that my rear crossmember was going to need replacing at some point. All ok at the minute, but what’s the rough price for having a new one fitted?? It’s a 2000 td5 90. I’m guessing it’s gonna vary massively depending on how bad it is but just want a rough idea how much it’s gonna...

    Wheel and tyre advice please

I’d check with local garage for a price to do the tyres if you buy them online, some don’t like doing them!

    Belt and pulleys

Belt seemed right putting it along side the other one, new one slightly shorter but only by a couple of mm. I’ll double check part number tomorrow. Not sure about a Gates belt???

    Belt and pulleys

The woman said they were too expensive these days to give away! I ran out of time so a mate had to do it for me instead. Pulleys and tensioner off and new ones on no problem but couldn’t get new belt on, old one was ok to use again so he put that on again. Said even with the adjuster fully in...
