Does anyone have the part number for the 2 bolts that hold the oil drain pipe to the underside of the turbo?
The heads are starting to get a bit rounded on mine, and I'd like to replace them.
Also, what is the likelihood of stripping the threads in the block if I replace the whole turbo oil...
My 2004 TD5 has quite a major oil leak, and it is getting progressively worse.
It now leaves a small lake under the car after it is parked.
I thought it was the sump gasket, but I have found a pool of oil on the small shelf at the back of the engine. I have attached a picture of the location...
I am currently fixing up the (relatively) minor problems on 2004 TD5 Defender.
I am keeping the car entirely stock, as I have no interest in extra power or mpg.
I am, however, very interested in the reliability and longevity of the engine, and was wondering if there are any negatives to...
I have a small problem with the exhaust manifold on my TD5 (as do many!).
The previous owner ran a remap, which I have since removed, but the manifold has already warped slightly and the gasket has blown on the side closest to the firewall.
I am removing the old manifold and will be replacing...
Does anyone know whether the ECU firmware was continually updated over the life of the TD5?
I have a stock map file that I will be installing back into my 2004 Defender, but it is from 2002 (It comes from the Nanocom Map Wizard).
I was wondering whether there were more recent versions...
I am slowly checking everything I can on my 2004 Defender TD5 before I order all the parts I need in one go, and I have a question regarding a small oil leak.
I have noticed a very small leak in the lower head seal (that is my guess at what it's called). I have attached a a picture:
It looks...
Hello,
My 2004 Defender TD5 has a 1/2" drain plug like the photo below, rather than the bolt and washer. Does anyone know the part number for this? I can't find it on any of the parts diagrams.
Thanks

Hello,
I am hoping to revert the ECU map file in my 2004 TD5 Defender to the stock file (the previous owner did a remap).
I will be using a Nanocom Evolution, and it is recommended that I attach a battery charger with a supply function to the Defender's battery in order to prevent any loss of...
Hello,
As my posting of several new threads probably shows, I am a beginner when it comes to Defenders.
I picked up the car yesterday and everything seems to be OK. Or as OK as can be expected for a 13 year old Defender.
It's a 2004 TD5 Hardtop (left hand drive).
I have a question regarding...
Hello,
I recently purchased a 2004 Defender TD5.
Everything looks pretty good except for some oil at the ECU plug. I understand this is a common problem on a TD5.
I am going to replace the injector wiring harness and I was wondering which brand was the best?
Is it only a temporary fix? By...
Hello,
I have just today purchased a 2004 90 TD5 (It won't be collected until next week). It seems to be in very good condition.
The owner says the car has been either remapped or chipped by the first owner (he is the second), gaining a few extra horsepower.
I was wondering how easy it was to...
Good afternoon,
I am interested in a 1959 Series 2 that is for sale in Portugal (where I live).
I have spent a decent amount of time with newer Defenders, but never a Series. So I was wondering if anyone could have a glance at the listing and see if anything nasty jumps out at them...
