Anyone here in Cuxton Marina last Thursday 16th

I was over in Blighty (down in Kent) last week buying a motor for SWMBO (A Fiat Multipla Ugly bug, but each to their own:p). I was waiting to be picked up at the train station in Cuxton when I heard the most wonderful woofle of a V8 approaching. It was a late model P38 4.6 with theeeee best...

Well, it had to happen sooner or later!!

Pulling out from a side road today in my DSE auto into traffic, accelerate hard onto the main road, and all of sudden, plenty revs, no forward motion:eek::eek: Car behind brakes, beeps and goes round me as I'm sitting on the side of the road on a blind bend!! Sitting there for a minute...

    Disco 3 query

A friend of mine is looking at buying a commercial Disco 3 over here. The deal he's being offered is ridiculously good, about €6,500 for a slightly damaged 55,900km 2007 example. Panel damage is a beat up rear quarter, like some reversed hard into a wall. The tailgat still opens fine but a...

    Swapping front diffs on P38

I mangled the front diff on my 2.5 DSE rangie (through no real fault of the rangie, its been whining something terrible for ages but i couldn't do anything about it until now). I've got a one from a scrapper (its a 98 dse with same mileage as my own but feels ok) that should bolt straight...

    Spare Wheel for Freelander 2

We have a commercial freelander 2 at work. When they convert them to commercial over here in Ireland they lower the load area floor and in doing so dispose of the spare wheel. In its place in the remaining wheel well is a Continental Emergency tire inflation kit (there isn't even a jack)...

What's up with the Forum today???

The forum's been acting real strange today. You see a new post on a thread but when you click on the thread it's not there. And now its listing threads as having less replies than they have!! Whats going on?

Anyone done the static timing on a DSE

As per thread, I'm trying to adjust the static timing on my DSE. I've marked the current position of the pump and loosened the 2 bolts holding the pump in position. But I can't rotate the pump any bit whatsoever. I even tried thumping it with a drift (cause hitting delicate parts of a RR...

Where does the V8 take its rev signal from?

As per title, I'm trying to find out where the Lucas 14CUX (RRC3.9) gets its rev signal from. I'm having a bit of a starting issue with my RRC (pretty sure its down to an earthing problem) and I'm wondering where does the ECU pick up its signal from. Any help appreciated.

    Range Rover Sport hitch

Hi guys, Need a favour here, anyone know if there was only one type of hitch attachment point for a RRS? A friend borrowed my P38 for the weekend to do some towing as his RRS has no hitch and he's asked me to see if I can track one down. I checked it out and all the hardware seems to be...

Whats involved in retro fitting 4 wheel TC

Hi guys, My 98MY Dse is starting to exhibit signs of brake modulator problems (click in pedal) in conjunction with accumulator problems so a big overhaul is imminent. I also happen to have a 99MY donor vehicle sitting outside the door. I'm assuming that most of the bits including ECU's etc...

Poll on where to fit new tyres

Hi Guys, Just a general observation/off RR topic rant! I was reading an article in this weeks Auto Express on the legality of fitting lower speed rated tyres than the OE equipment. All good (Admiral said that load/speed ratings of tyres was not classed as a notifiable modification) until...

    Good Man Irishrover

Just a bit of public thanks to Irishrover, Changed the front hub bearing on my P38 with the invaluable assitance of a detailed write up by John. Not the easiest of jobs but with clear instructions like his, its pretty straightforward. Thanks Irish, if you're down my way I owe you a drink;)...

    P38 Cupholder mod

Hi guys, As anyone of you with a pre 2000 RR knows the cupholder is utter crap on the rangie:mad: Seeing as the 2000 on lids that come up on ebay go for funny money I did a fair bit of research into various cup holders and discovered that the VW cup holder from 05 Sharan/Galaxy/Alhambra...

New angle on mysterious battery drain

While bodging a decent cup holder into the dash of my Rangie I noticed a constant noise coming from under the dash. Like a fan, clock or a computer running. I initially thought it was the actually clock but no. A little more investigating confirmed it was coming from the instrument cluster...

Advice on removing DSE auto tranny oil cooler

My DSE auto oil cooler is leaking oil with a bit now and is getting worse. I've read that the fittings are inclined to snap when taking it off. Not having a spare lying around and seeing them go for £200 on ebay I've been reluctant to touch it and have just kept topping it up along with all...

    Anyone know anything about winches

Hi guys, I just picked up a new Longhorne KEW 4000 winch for small enough money (£110 with some other crap thrown in as part of the haggle:) ) at a car boot sale. just want to know if anyone has any experience with this type of winch. Its made in China, its got a 1.5hp motor, gear reduction...

Grey Differential Oil - Oh Ohh!!!

Did a big service on the P38 at the weekend at 120k. When I drained the rear diff it was a lovely clear colour with just a hint of black but looked like I could easily put it back in. Filled it up with new diff oil and on to the next. Sorted! Went to change the oil on the front diff and what...
