Ok update. After going to investigate the hose (all seems ok with that) I have found that the actuator is not connected to the waste gate! And more to the point, it must never have been connected! It looks like someone has messed unless I am missing something. Where the pin with the clip goes...

have you tried turning any other high draw items like rear heated screen and full fan? to see if it is a voltage drop that's causing it? I would leave the lights off and turn on full blower and rear heated screen and wipers and see if that makes it cut out

that photo is looking from the drivers side down past the fuel pump and oil filter. the oil filter is the blur on the left of the photo and the part in focus is the sump and the bottom of the block. the line down is where I think it is leaking from
