    Dave Smith's Freelander

No probs, the seals have arrived, not to fit them.

    Dave Smith's Freelander

Do not like the colour, but love the model. You have a lot of work cut out here, sounds like something "Wheeler Dealers" should be taking on. I would not worry too much about the tailgate window, that's easy to sort if the tailgate is straight. The interior is something else, however, as Terr...

What is the procedure for replacing the tailgate window seal?

The Pro Mechanic Fred (do not post before reading)

OK here is one I would recommend, Crown Grove garage in Kirkliston. It's run by a gentleman called Ashley whose great knowledge of Land Rovers came from assembling them in the Falklands for the MOD, OK probably Defenders, but has looked after my Freelander 1 extremely well.

    Heater blower issue

The trouble is that we are now into Winter, so after an hour or so of the blast he will be freezing as he no longer has heating apart from the hot water escaping from the heater unit. BTW Dandy, did you ever solve this problem by a more conventional means?

    Heater blower issue

Well I suppose if he has replaced the fuse with a nail he now knows exactly where the fault is.

    Heater blower issue

Never replace a fuse with a higher one, it's like just replacing the fuse with a nail. The fuse is their for a purpose, and in your case it is telling you something is wrong.

    Yes to both questions.

Occasionally gearbox not shifting into drive

I have a Freelander 1 Auto, recently coming out of reverse she is reluctant to go into drive! Moving the selector back to neutral and then into drive a couple of time sorts it, but should not have to do that. Any ideas> Thanks.

2005 Freelander 1.8 Clutch Master Cylinder

I have an auto so not 100% sure, however, I would have thought you could re-use the one you have.

Please read before posting for help

If someone, Land Rover or not needs rescued I would help. Not sure about pulling a Centurion Tank out the mud with my Freelander though.

    faded black bits.....

Then go for the Burnt Linseed Oil, you will not be disappointed.

    faded black bits.....

Yes I looked at the hot air gun method and the result looks fantastic. I opted for linseed oil as I do not have a hot air gun and was worried about thinning the material the more it's used. also seemed to be more work.

    What has happened to SigPic

I notice that all the SigPics have gone, has this been withdrawn? Thanks.

    faded black bits.....

On the outside mine are grey, but this still works fantastically. Use Burnt Linseed Oil and rub it on with a sponge. If the are badly faded it may take a few coats, however, lasts for agies.

    Fitting soft top

Yes. I should only have 2 of the panels, they slide up the track at the bottom of the side windows and clip over onto the hood when it is folded back to stop it flapping about.

    Removing Canvas from Frame

Hmm, yes very interesting. Mine is glued, well sort of, it's tacky and will peel open. Now while it is being repaired, zip etc. I could have Velcro fitted, however, the question I now have is how do you remove and re-fit the tail frame? I would love to get this soft top fully restored...
