    Scary handling!

I know the tracking was good, but whether or not that included zeroing the steering - I don't know. I suspect not. However, the LR dealer had it for a day to investigate - they may have done so. While it happens only under those circumstances I can live with it while I zero-in on the...

    Scary handling!

Wheel alignment was done when the tyres were changed three weeks ago. All within spec. Have been getting 26k to 29k miles on each set of tyres which I think is pretty good and indicates that everything is pretty much in order. How is the steering angle zero'd? I have a BMW that you simply turn...

    Scary handling!

Unfortunately I wish I could. It's happened twice but I've tried and been unable to, at least not to anywhere near the same extent, but then I'd don't want to risk putting it into the green stuff. Finding a suitable space isn't easy short of using a carpark at an unsociable hour. How does the...

    Scary handling!

The reluctor ring sounds favourite to me. Everything else has checked out ok and come back NFF, but, I'm not surprised that the dealer hasn't found this. I don't think they even considered it. The next thing is how safe is it if there is a problem. I can live with it if I know the circumstances...

    Scary handling!

Thanks. Doesn't feel like torque steer, although I suppose if one front wheel looses traction due to driveshaft issues or sensor input, the Haldex cuts in, applies power to the rear which under throttle and steering input upsets all the dynamics. I'd tried to remember if I'd seen any lights...

    Scary handling!

I've recently experienced a situation where my FL2 has induced massive oversteer when accelerating left out of a junction. I don't mean aggressive acceleration but a little spirited. It's handled perfectly all it's life but, instead of the normal front wheel drive or reassuringly safe four wheel...

    discovery sport , freelander replacement

I live in JLR country. There's always presale models around. It's difficult to remember what's out there for Joe public sometimes. We often see locals with new models and upgrades some while before they go on sale. Ten months is an awful long lead time. Ten weeks is an long time in manufacturing.

    discovery sport , freelander replacement

My FL2 is in for a service today. I have been given a brand new Disco Sport SD4 SE as a courtesy car. It didn't even have number plates on when I arrived! I have to say, despite dissing the 2.2 engine, in this guise it is very good. It also returned 35mpg on the 20 mile cross country journey...

    discovery sport , freelander replacement

I know exactly what you mean. We've just bought another car - a BMW. I am sorely tempted to go looking elsewhere for a replacement for my car. I'm already been in other showrooms. As much as I want (and could afford) a Disco, I love the FL. I couldn't justify the fuel costs of the Disco doing...

    Freelander 2 rear diff problems

Don't see how re-flashing the Haldex is going to stop this fault. Isn't it more likely to be down to driving style and/or journey type (i.e. lots of short journeys) or worse, just simply bad luck. I understand the Haldex is engaged from standstill and then disengages as soon as no slip is...

    discovery sport , freelander replacement

I was hanging on for the Disco Sport to replace my 8 year old FL2 TD4 HSE. I am really disappointed however to find that they don't intend to fit the new 2L diesel until late 2015. Even then, it won't go in an HSE spec. according to what I've seen. While the current 2.2 unit has better...

    Freelander 2 rear diff problems

I've had this problem twice. Once below 50K and again at around 95k miles. Both times the dealer has repaired it using their fix rather than fit a new rear diff. Thankfully both times it was under warranty, but, I fully expect to keep my FL2 for another 50k and have this go again at some point...

    Handling on worn tyres

New all round - they've always worn out evenly. Always replaced all four at the same time.

    Handling on worn tyres

Newbie question. Can't see anything similar posted already. I have a 2008 2.2 HSE which I've owned since it was a few months old and now has 110k on the clock. I've noticed before that the handling gets substantially poorer when the tyres are worn. It gets rather squiffy with every little...
