    Monograde or multigrade oil?

I hear what you are saying, but getting the right viscosity is important for engine life. One thing to note is modern oils have had a lot of the EP additives removed to protect catalytic converters and particle filters so a lot of classic car owners are experiencing excessive cam wear when using...

    Monograde or multigrade oil?

Yeah Millers are a quality outfit. You don't want too much ZDDP, about 1200ppm seems to be the general thumbs up. Over about 1400ppm and it starts to have negative effects and over about 2000ppm it starts to attack the grain boundaries in the steel! I'm going to do what i did with my Austin...

    Monograde or multigrade oil?

Since posting I've been nerding it up in the workshop manual to get a better idea about bearing clearances and oil pressure readings. Clearance wise they are much tighter than you would imagine, similar to a ford 2.0 zetec engine so the recommended SAE20,30/10w30 is right for a new engine. This...

    Monograde or multigrade oil?

A bit of a yawn but wondering whether any other series 1 owners use multigrade oils in their injuns rather than the monograde SAE20, SAE30, SAE40 recommended in the WS and operation manual. It does say multigrade oils are recommended for injuns in good order as long as they match the SAE grades...

    TD5 Oil and filter change

You have two oil filters The centrifugal oil filter gets changed every service and the normal oil filter gets changed every 3rd service. It's normal to be black as the fresh detergents in the new oil cleaned the deposits left behind by the old oil, also there will be oil left in the oil...

    These Kenwood speakers any good?

It depends on the quality of the sound you are after, in my experience everything that i've ever had with kenwood written on it has been very very average. Pioneer make good products so if i had to choose between the two i'd go for them all day long. A decent head unit will make a big difference.

    300tdi Starting problem

sounds a bit strange that it starts without the starter relay, it shouldn't do this. Are you sure you removed the starter relay or has someone bypassed it?

    Oil grade?

There was a case between Castrol and Mobil, Castrol were using the group 3 and calling it synthetic and Mobil were using Group 4 PAO and got a bit upset. Castrol ended up winning the case because the Group 3 oil was so altered from it's original state it could no longer be called a mineral or...

    Oil grade?

Wrong Most Synthetic oil is highly refined mineral oil known as group 3, group 4 synthetic contains PAO which is also derived from crude oil, group 5 synthetics are esters and are not made from crude oil. Semi synthetic has no more than 30% synthetic oil in it and that synthetic oil is highly...
