    Defeated

I had something similar the other day on my TD4, its a newer one but it may be the same problem. On mine the window was stuck up. I found that the tape around the wires that go around the inside of the tailgate had fallen apart and the wires got caught as the window went down when the battery...

Freelander 1 fuel rail sensor plug

Had this on my 2006 TD4 last week. Follow the guide on here (link already posted) to replace the harness. That will sort it. If you decide to do the sensor as well you'll need a 27mm deep socket.

Fuel Rail Pressure sensor & Harness change

Just wanted to a say what a useful thread this is. Just had this fault on our 56 plate TD4, went wrong yesterday, fixed now with new sensor and harness. Hardest bit of the whole job was finding one of those bloody screw shrouds that fell out when removing the pipework. This kind of thing is...

Freelander 1 Rear Tailgate Open / Close Sensor Location

Fixed. The wire came from the blue multi plug connector that goes into the latch. If you zoom in on the 2nd pic in the thread Alibro posted you can just see the small green insulator as it goes into the connector. The black tape had fallen apart and the wires got caught as the window came down...

Freelander 1 Rear Tailgate Open / Close Sensor Location

Thanks. We'll its a bit like a spade connector. its very small. It is on the end of a black wire and has a small green cover on one end. I think I'm going to hae to take the handle / swtich off and the lock / actuator to work out where its come from. The CCU definately thinks the door is closed...

Freelander 1 Rear Tailgate Open / Close Sensor Location

Spot on thanks, will take a pic tomorrow. I think is the 2nd wire that I had to reconnect when I put the lock back in after replacing the solenoid. I can't think of anywhere else it could go. Cheers for the reply.

Freelander 1 Rear Tailgate Open / Close Sensor Location

Hello all, Haven't posted for a long time as the good old hippo has been behaving itself for the last year or so, have come up against a strange problem this evening though. About 6 months ago I fitted a new rear tailgate latch solenoid as the old one was sticking all the time, fitted and all...

Hello all, Ok - I cleared the codes and have done about 250 miles since. Two of them haven't come back, but this one has: Fault 1815 - Tiptronic inputs - multiple / no signal Still drives fine and changes up and down the gears just fine. Anything to worry about or shall I just leave it and...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Busy day working on the Freelander today. Changed oil, all filters (including turbo vent and PCV) removed and cleaned out the EGR valve. Also replaced the VCU and bearings with new GKN ones. Feels like new now. Well, allmost!

Freelander 1 weird action of the Td4 Freelander

Did it cut out when put in reverse to park it or just when coming to a stop / moving normally?

    Does anybody know ..

It might do, are there any warning lights on? It may be stuck in limp mode if the ECU isn't getting a response from the sensor that's been disconnected by the wire breaking.

    Does anybody know ..

Hi Angela, The wire goes to the sensor with all the oil round it on the intercooler to manifold hose. Only the later TD4s seem to have one of these sensors. You shold be able to fix the wire back together with a small wire connecor. There does seem to be a fair bit of oil coming out round...

    Freelander 1 GKN VCU???

Just bought GKN VCU and bearings for my TD4 Freelander. When I ordered the seller stated that VCU was made by GKN. Arrived today in a Britpart box, on inspection I see that its got GKN - V 405520 15 020 stamped on it. No sign of being reconditioned / welding looks ok it. From what I've read...

Freelander 1 TD4 Auto Gearbox Whine (I think)

That's the plan. Oil was changed last spring and was clear then, but you never know. Will at least check the magnetic filler plug to see if it looks like a hedgehog. Hope it doesn't!

Freelander 1 TD4 Auto Gearbox Whine (I think)

I did the one wheel up test a few weeks ago and it seemed ok. Its definately a bit more "tight" than it was when we first bought it. It hasn't made the noise again today after driving around 20 miles. Had a look underneath, can't see any leaks and there's no play in any drive / propshafts...
