    Hippo is overheating......AGAIN!

It was good while it lasted. After replacing thermostat, pipes, and the expansion tank, wife didn't have any issues with Hippo for few months. And over the weekend, she barely made it home. Expansion tank is getting over pressurized, fluid boiling, and steaming. Fans are not coming on. It...

    Hippo's done.

I am happy to report. As some of you recall, it was purchased off of junk yard, with broken timing belt. It was sitting with hood/windows open, for three months in the CA rainy season (not much rain in SoCal, but still). Dust, moisture, industry fallout, etc. wreaked havoc with the fuse boxes...

    Hippo misfires!

Well, it started again. As some of you recall, I had the coolant boiling on wife's 2002 V6, and the stat, recovery bottle with cap, and intake manifold gaskets were replaced. All was good for about a week, and the wife was happy (happy wife=happy me!). Last night she came from work in panic...

    Intake manifold gaskets on V6

I searched, and I got conflicting results. So I'm asking the gurus,.......install new gaskets WITH, or WITHOUT some kind of silicone? Seems like the ones I pulled out, haven't been sealed, and they leaked BADLY. IF the silicone is a "go", which one is recommended? Basically, I'd like to hear...

    Just a wish.

At this time my life is pretty good. Everything (well ALMOST everything!), is as it should be. I just have ONE wish! I would like to be walking in a dark alley somewhere, and run into the sadistic ba$tard genius, that decided where to place the thermostat on 2002 V6!! At least when my knuckles...

    Geting hot.

Wife's Hippo decided to start with its "fits" again. Coolant expansion tank is BOILING. I replaced the tank, and the cap from the 'donor' car, and BOTH tanks have radial cracks (they look like surface cracks only) around the neck. I picked the one that looked better of the two, to no dice...

    Nothing to report. ;(

Since all posts are about the problems with Hippo, I decided to post a POSITIVE post! No issues. Since I "washed" the barrels, and the engine bay fuse box with top of the line contact cleaner,......there are NO problems (two weeks). There was F4 and amber HDC issue, and it went away! She is...

    BIG thank you to Teddywood1!!

In my post "Just another spare wheel cover thread" I asked the forum members to help me locate an original, British dealer supplied spare wheel cover. And the member "Teddywood1" came through. The cover arrived today to California, and it will be placed on my wife's Hippo tomorrow morning (pics...

    HDC/F4 saga continues!

Gentlemen. If you followed my ordeal with this issue, you learned that the problem was SOLVED, by spraying the barrels with the contact cleaner, and charging the battery. And it WAS (for two days!). Wife came home last night, and said that Hippo threw the HDC and F4 twice, on the way home! And...

Just another spare wheel cover thread!

My wife LOVES England. And she loves her Hippo. She requested to have a "genuine" British license plate on the front, and I obliged. So this morning she came up with something new. She wants a genuine British dealer spare wheel cover! One with the LR logo, and all other info for the dealer...

    Pass side airbag cover

I have a LONG thread running about wife's little Hippo on this forum. So I decided to start another thread with another question (unrelated to my original one amigo F4 question). The ONLY interior blemish this thing has, is the scratched pass airbag cover! Why? Well,....the old folks that...

    HDC light and F4

Hello, posted in the "Engines" forum (because I replaced the engine!), but I guess the questions are supposed to go here. Anyway,......2002 V6 Hippo. Replaced the engine, and beating my head over some issues. "No brake lights". Just found the post saying that the ONLY brake lights on the...

    Greetings to all Hippo wranglers!

So,.......driving 06 Full Fat in Zambezi silver, and ran into a 2002 Hippo in the same color. MINT, parked at the junkyard! Traced the owner (75 year old original owner), who LOVED the car, but had the timing belts replaced at the indy, and the usual happened,......belt broke. They told him 6K...
