    Tdci is also a good buy, very reliable transit lump. Much more refined, six speed box keeps revs low on long journeys. I had 3 Td5's and a 2.4 and 2.2 tdci, prefer the 2.2 tdci over all others.

    Well I have made my own on the last three Defenders I have owned, this time I really couldn't be bothered so took the plunge and bought a pair for my 110 hardtop and they are great. They fit well and look good, yes you can make your own but if you don't want to these are a good alternative.

    Will the stop in making defenders affect the value

    I think they will go up in value compared to what they are now, or retain there value should I say. Thats vehicles not parts. The thefts of parts may also increase unfortunately :(

    Defender 110 as first car

    110's are more stable than 90's having a longer wheelbase, can carry about half a metric ton more and can carry more volume, bigger turning circle though and takes up more room. I love my 110, its my everyday drive.

    "hope you have breakdown cover if your buying a transit engine one !" Heh, two million hairy arsed builders who don't know what a dipstick is proves that the Transit engined ones are bullet proof :) Don't forget security, fit a tracker and some floodlights on your drive. Looks very nice good...
