I said yes to the EAS block he was selling and then had no further replies. I have tried contacting him through the original thread, this conversation thread and private messaging. I left it in the end because I thought he may be isolating etc My neighbour had his Defender 90 stolen a few days...

Hi Kurt....yes please on the P38 EAS valve block. My 2000 P38 4.6 had developed a slow lowering. I found a small leak in a rear air bag and changed them. However it was still dropping albeit slightly slower. More soapy water and it looks like the leak is coming through the collar on the NRV...

    P38A 2000 X reg 4.6 front Side Light

Should be straightforward but looks like the previous owner upgraded all the bulbs and nothing is standard. I keep on getting the "left side light bulb failure". Each time I check it is functioning correctly. I feared a BECM fault, however the other day I jumped out to check (as the warning...

P38A Engine twitch on idle 4.6 yr 2000

Not yet...I read somewhere that the IAT didn't apply to the later Thor with Bosch MAF.....but Grrrrr has said (post above) that was the diesels. I have read so much I'm getting overloaded with info. If the IAT does apply to the later petrol MAF then looks like my MAF may be on the way out. It is...

P38A Engine twitch on idle 4.6 yr 2000

Yes Thor ....but vehicle only has two sensors...one on each exhaust, both before the cats, the fluctuation is anything between 0 and 0.780 but is rapidly fluctuating with no relevance to the rpm ...ie; at idle it doesn't roam around a nice low figure it shows every number possible from 0 .0 up...

P38A Engine twitch on idle 4.6 yr 2000

My poor explanation...the in car needle does just run up to 12 o'clock...the readings on the gizmo machine showed a steady rise as driving...no apparent coolant problems. It's a Turner engine with 26k on it so hopefully those problems are in the past :) and fingers crossed. Good news on the O2...

P38A Engine twitch on idle 4.6 yr 2000

Just had a short run and warmed it up...engine coolant readings appear to be rising and falling normally. The voltage on the O2 sensors doesn't look right, but I am not au fait with this end of the car so please bear with me. (I am only using an Autel MOT Pro, not a Nanocom or similar) It...

P38A Engine twitch on idle 4.6 yr 2000

From further t'internet reading is it correct that the IAT is a spurious reading as the MAF replaced the original set up?

P38A Engine twitch on idle 4.6 yr 2000

Lots of work done over the last year and now the beloved has a "twitchy engine" on idle. Fuel consumption increased over time and about the same time the idle became a tad rough, nothing audible, just a twitch but enough to feel. Replaced coil packs, plugs, fitted Magnecor leads...compressions...

    P38A 2000 X reg 4.6 and oils with zinc

Thanks all...I think I will go with the ZDDP oils and hope for the best. Great shame I can't get around the cat problem but hopefully I'll give up before the car does.

    P38A 2000 X reg 4.6 and oils with zinc

Can anyone guide me please. Lots of work being undertaken on my P38 to make it near perfect and I am now going to fill it with oil. Up to now it has been using a 10/40W with regular changes, no oil loss or leaks etc I am now being told to use one with a zinc/phosphate additive as the older...

P38A Any recommended garages in the Hampshire Berkshire area

Not yet. I have a couple of more local LR garages who say they know what they are doing....was just hoping for a personal recommendation. My vehicle runs well, low mileage, thousands spent but there is an intermittent problem that no one appears confident in diagnosing. I will bear them in...

P38A Any recommended garages in the Hampshire Berkshire area

As above...I have used some but looking for the sort of people who really understand the 2000 P38 4.6 and know what they are talking about. A few minor problems that I would like to sort out but it appears guesswork is the only way forward....and that is getting expensive. I need a guru who has...
