Good work. Great post, keep it up (work on the Land Rover and the post!)

    The project has landed!

Keep it original, is that not the point of an ex army rebuild? However, I appreciate economy is important too. I think similar to the post above, get it going and see how you use it and how it works out

    iPad holder/mount for offroad use

Life edge make a 100% waterproof case and mount for iPads with a mount for boats. I use it in my boat and it works really well. You can't charge it with the case on but the battery's are good enough for a days use. http://www.lifedge.co.uk/product/waterproof-case-for-ipad It's pricey, but a...

    Old discos-still reliable

I use my disco 1 300 TDI to do 200 miles a week, no problems so far. This weekend I am taking it to southampton which will be a 250 mile round trip. I use it as my every day transport, and love every mile of it!

    Discovery, which one?

Get windows and seats put in your defender, even if you get it done professionally I am sure the cost will be less than the money you lose on selling your fender and buying a discovery. Better the devil you know................

    What MPG do you get?

Disco 1 300 Tdi manual Start stop traffic, and a mix of A and B roads and a two bar roof rack. Over the last 5000 miles a constant 29.8 mpg. Very happy with that!

Shiney new MOT cert Discovery 1

I collected my discovery this morning, with some new bits attached, drag link, track rod end and a brake pipe. It only needed a bit of welding, nearside rear seatbelt mounting. The mechanic said it was one of the best condition discoverys he had seen, and was impressed by how well it went...

    Scared from Bristol!

Forester will have a petrol thirst and the parts are expensive. Also they are all wheel drive so not great off road. The land rover will do everything better, just ensure you check all the fluids and change them regularly

What have you done to your Landie today.

My Disco 1 had a big day today. MOT which of course it failed, drag link, track rod end, front brake hose and a spot of welding in the inner wheel arch, I am happy with that. The I chain harrowed the horse fields for my wife, it was very very muddy going through the gates but perseverance was...

    Advice Needed

We used a Td4 for towing a horse box, it's fine for A roads and motorways but struggles on hill starts and B roads. I would go for the discovery, the major bonus is you have low range and diff lock if you end up in a muddy field or needing to do a hill start out of some of these tricky...

    Land Rover wave!!!!!

I have just realised the down side to owning a discovery - other discovery owners don't wave to you:( We have a defender at work and when I am out and about waving to other defenders drives is part of driving it. Maybe if I wave at people in the discovery I might start a new craze in the...

    Questions from a new guy

I had a Shogun 05 plate SWB 3.2 diesel. It was really good. Leather seats, climate control towed the horse trailer 1000's of miles with no problem whatsoever. The only problem was that it did not have a Land Rover badge on it. I drive a disco 1 now, very contented and smile with the cost if...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Borrowed a trailer, cut my hedge down and took it to the recycling centre. Discovery performed 100% as always. It's been ideal this winter on Devon with all the floods and pot holes in the lanes. What do people without land rovers do when they need a serious job tackling??

    who is this masked man?

Umm I've seen these adverts too. The trucks are too cheap in my option to be 'coach built' in my opinion. Convert your own and enjoy the process
