    90 expedition storage thread

Dowels and especially Dovetails is a bit overkill isnt it. Wood glue and screws is more than strong enough to bond MDF, make sure to pilot your screw holes so you dont split the MDF. Fair enough if you want to dovetail things to make them pretty (and stronger) but you would of been better off...

    Getting my 90 resprayed

Not sure where you are based but we use SRS (Sheffield Refinishing Services or Solutions or something). They are helpful, will advise on gun set up etc and mix most things.

    Getting my 90 resprayed

I think any spray shop shying away from spraying a Defender is just worrying about comeback when it starts to oxidize. When my Defender got nicked and the clowns sprayed it Matt black with rattle cans it looked awful. Direct Line put it bfn to its original colour and pulled every dint. It...

    New defender (again)

So apart from the differences it is still the same. Good stuff. There are two main problems with someone who wants to tinker at home. Accessibility and Electronics. Range Rover Sports need the body lifting off them to replace a turbo, Mercedes spoke about (was mentioned by a dealer, but I...

    New defender (again)

The design of the new defender isn't that relevant to me. I bought my 300Tdi as a vehicle I could learn and tinker with mechanically. Pretty much every other car now has a big shiny plastic cover under the bonnet and nothing I can get to. I think my generation (im 30) have pretty much been...

X Defend Pedal Lock fitted (with Pics!)

You could, just whatever you fitted would get in the way of your feet whilst driving. I've never checked. But I think mine slightly depresses the brake pedal as fitted. Will drop the handbrake tomorrow and try and roll it about in neutral.

    Lockable bollard?

I agree the more layers the better. Was just the original post read a bit like a one stop solution. I don't think I ever really switch off from looking out the window. I heard a sound like a gate rattling about 3 this morning. People with normal cars just roll over and go back to sleep. I was up...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild (Round 2)

It must feel devestating fella. Your passion for this stuff is clear to see, don't give up (or burn it). Maybe in a few days (maybe weeks) time you can look at this as an oppertunity to make it an even better landy. S

X Defend Pedal Lock fitted (with Pics!)

I did a bit of googling about that variety of lock. They are being referred to as Radial Pin Tumblers. There are plenty of websites explaining how to pick them, a few mention the pen technique, one website mentioned that this only worked on old versions of these locks. As I said above I will...

X Defend Pedal Lock fitted (with Pics!)

It is the same variety of lock. Is unlikely it is the exact same mechanism. I'll have a look into it tomorrow (assuming he hasn't been round with his pen and borrowed my Landy) and see if it is as easy as his silent movie.

X Defend Pedal Lock fitted (with Pics!)

More details about it are here. - X Defend Pedal Lock for Land Rover Defender It mentions an "anti-drill, British Made Lowe & Fletcher RPT Lock." To be honest it wasn't something I looked into. Maybe give the manufacturer a call unless you think it is a case that all locks of that type are...

    Lockable bollard?

Is it a parking bollard or a security post? If it is just one of the ones that are used largely to save a parking space then they aren't that secure. If it is gypsies stealing in your area then a lot of em will have hydrolic loppers that will make short work of a bollard. One option if the...

    Another 90 Rebuild

My roof is riveted like that (well actually not as well as that). I would assume it is standard as I can't see any signs of it being messed about it the past.

It's only Cat D if it is Stolen Recovered and written off. When our Defender was stolen the insurance company repaired and returned it. There was no cat D on it.
