Is it the same or different on a v8? Because i have bled it and bled it and bled it until i have started bleeding! I am hoping that the steel seal worked, i have been unable to find a test kit to test for combustion gasses in the coolant but the oil seems fine, no milkyness or discolouration...

Could this cause overheating? I have read just about every article i can find on it, only one suggests it could cause overheating. The only bleeding process i am yet to try is using a pump to create pressure in the system and force air out

So after much fettling looks like you are right and the head gasket has gone. Been reccomended steel seal. Bought 2 bottles and will do it once my new rad plug arrives- stupid plastic one snapped!!

Hey man sorry me again- did exactly as you said and there was a bubbling sound, so i left the caps off, revved it a few times over about ten mins, lots of bubbles came out so kept going until there was minimal Bubbles then replaced rad cap. Topped up along the way, revved again, still bubbles...

Ahh no worries cheers mate! So best way to proceed- open expansion tank and rad filler, top up, run it For a bit or should i take the return hose off expansion tank and then run engine until its ran through the system?

Cheers everyone thats great. Well i checked the waterpump (just got home now on the back of a recovery truck!) I'm Guessing it is okay as there is no play and no noise coming from it. Where is the other plug then on the t stat? Cheers

Hey guys How do you know if your waterpump has gone? Ive a disco v8 1995 auto. Changed thermostat and coolant and now overheated. Could it be fan/ air in system? How would i check what the issue is? Thanks guys in advance

Had a similar problem with my past 2 '95 discos- both times was the plenum chamber. Might be worth pulling plenum and ancilieries off (be careful with throttle linkeage you will almost certainly end up with a damn spring imbedded in your hand :/ ) clean up, check for anyhing that needs fixing...

An update on progress- After much testing and beard scratching, I changed the tensioner. It was well past it! But, noise still there- now I defo know it is the alternator so I will have to start saving some pennies up! Thinking of getting the uprated 120A unit to run my gizmos off :) Still...
