What have you done to your Freelander today

Thought I'd fix the rear window wiper , didn't seem much of a problem the motor worked and with a bit of "help" the blade would move across the screen "obviously" just needs the nut tightening to hold the arm or some tin foil bodgery .... Went to get the spare wheel off , I was surprised when...

What have you done to your Freelander today

What have you done to your Freelander today

Washed it having bought it Saturday Def agree the quality of the facelift vehicles seems lesser than the earlier ones , even some of the mouldings that look the same were poorer , toolbox and its yellow securing handle etc . Could also be that I had higher expectations having spent "real...

    engine knocking sound

My 2005 sounds "knocky" almost like a diesel - found the exhaust manifold loose and needing a new gasket , loose plugs can give the same . Wouldn't rush into changing bearings .

    injector ultrasonic baths

Used my £50 u/s tank for the first time yesterday on some motorcycle carbs and was v pleased with the results - the inside of the float bowls came up like new . As a cleaning solution I used a bit of lemon juice and Muc Off bike cleaner with just warm water from the tap as mine does not have a...

    Mot

Same as mine 2000 reg cradle not too bad but 2005 reg the tubes have lost the bottom half in places , plates are ok though ??.. Front mounts look to be easy to get to and rear of cradle still in good condition so hope to tie the two together with strip and the ali plate .

    Mot

A pass is always good - if it comes with no cost in time or £££s it's even better ;) Fuel tank cradle on both are a worry but have a cunning plan involving steel strip and a big bit of 6mm ali sheet to cope with that one .... Smug ? - dunno bowt that - pleasantly surprised for sure !

new head gasket has failed:( help needed please

If you're pulling the liners to reseal you can get an idea of the alignment from the piston wear pattern "front and rear" - if they have not been turned 180 , not as good as marking them but will get them a bit closer .

Finally the Dreaded H/G.... so DIY or Garage ?

I have used an E12 socket ...... I'd go for a 1/2" drive one like this : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Teng-Torx-S2-Socket-1-2in-Drive-E12-/281403455757?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4184f3f90d If the head bolts are ok you are often better off using the original decent quality ones than cheap...

Finally the Dreaded H/G.... so DIY or Garage ?
