    Transmission fluid leak

A quick youtube search brought me here. You can see the seal when he removes the transfer case. Also its american spec so will be auto gearbox.I presume

    Transmission fluid leak

That being the case the seal between the gearbox and transfer box will need changing, which isn't difficult in itself and is accessible once the units are separated.. I'm not an expert and have only once removed an r380 and lt230 together as one unit from a disco. I think it is possible just to...

    Series 2 to 200Tdi Conversion

Well I knew someone would come along and say they pull a horse box with two horses in it round the world twice a year, since 1990 . I did say its my opinion now i might change it and fit two turbos like a D4 !.Only joking. what is IP? I change the oil at the beginning of each month (top it up)as...

    Series 2 to 200Tdi Conversion

Im going to do a chassis swap with a richard chassis which is S3 but has mounts/ takes a 300tdi engine removable crossmember for r380 and power steering box. Sorted! P.S. To be fair ,So far this incarnation of the gearbox has performed well with a couple thousand miles on it.,the transfer...

    Series 2 to 200Tdi Conversion

In my opinion the series vehicle was designed with the power of the 2 1/4 engine in mind. (I know they did a v8 later but it had upgraded features like a tougher gearbox brakes etc i believe) The gearboxes are crap. Especially those brass bushes which tear themselves apart as your going up a...

    Series 2 to 200Tdi Conversion

It mates up "ok" Most of the bolts line up especially at the top of the engine but for the bottom I had to drill holes in the bell housing to match the engine. But no need for a spacer.

    Series 2 to 200Tdi Conversion

Ill put in my tupence worth. Im running a S3 with 300tdi without the turbo (300di). It makes sense for me Im on my third gearbox build (,albeit the first gearbox was not up to much and had had a hard life). I have an ashcroft hi ratio transfer case which means all gears are in overdrive all the...

    Transmission fluid leak

I wonder is it all coming out of the breather. I think its common(with old gearboxes like my series certainly)that oil can run from the gearbox to the transfer box when the seal separating them fails.I fill my series box every month and I let all the excess out of my transfer case. If i leave...

Conversion of an oil bath air filter to run a snorkel

I had one fitted on my series when I bought it. As you can see from my profile pic. It also had the oil bath filter but they weren't connected! So cant help answer your question. Look great, but I think they are actually meant to function as a raised intake to avoid dust and grit thrown up by...

Disco 1 The mysterious pressure reducing brake valve.

Im surprised they stay in business, I spent thousands of pounds with them and the very first defective part I tried to return I was treated abysmally. Their policy seems to be keep fobbing you off until you give up. I have been using LR Direct as I'm in Ireland and they have the customs sorted...

Disco 1 The mysterious pressure reducing brake valve.

Got the refund ,Sammy from LR Direct came through in the end ,thanks to you guys I was able to educate myself and their technician on the difference between how the pressure reducer valve works compared to a load sensitive valve. And thanks to a previous run in with Paddocks I was able to nip...

Disco 1 The mysterious pressure reducing brake valve.

I had a tustle with them a few years back. Worst customer service i've ever had ,told me they were busy and i should stop bothering them when i enquired repeatedly how my return request was getting on, seriously, couldn't believe it.I don't go near them now. Mike from Brittania Restorations did...

Disco 1 The mysterious pressure reducing brake valve.

Single line? Sounds like a similar valve but not exact. As the piston in this valve blocks the inlet before the oulet (which are offset) However, If i turned it upside down and made the outlet the inlet and blocked the front inlet and just pushed fluid in that way I imagine that shuttle...

Disco 1 The mysterious pressure reducing brake valve.

They ask for the VIN number so no excuses. But It must be a difficult job knowing the parts for all the models spanning decades. Ill let you know how I get on I'm a veteran at this I once got a refund from Paddocks!

Disco 1 The mysterious pressure reducing brake valve.

I could see that alright. You've actually got me thinking, in the picture in one of the outlets is a blank thats screwed in, perhaps you block off the front inlet and connect the rear, to pipe it up ?Anyhow this ones blocked It wont let any fluid in or out .Surely you cant have the shuttle able...

Disco 1 The mysterious pressure reducing brake valve.

Thanks guys, Im yet to resolve this with the seller so I removed the original email from "sammy" which showed the company name. Its always stressful dealing with returns (for some reason) .

Disco 1 The mysterious pressure reducing brake valve.

I did try giving it a thump on the bench but that piston is stuck solid. You could say it does its job because the back will never lock up.I cant tell if the tech guy is confused, ignorant, or just trying to justify his position by sounding clever.
