    ticker question

Just starting a complete rewire (new looms etc) of the vehicle. I have bought part 502096 (3 pin), as i believe that is a replacement for the GFU107 (2 pin) listed in my parts book. My wiring diagram only uses 2 pins. I thought i would test out the flasher before i tried connecting it. I was...

    seat box question

I cannot work out how to put the seat attachments on the seat box. I have looked at my photos when i took the car apart, and I had: 1) the adjustable seat runner on the drivers side (makes sense), as per my latest photo when i have started to rebuild it 2) the seat brackets for the middle seat...

    Where to join cables

Ref the rear light cables, the loom has the connectors (double connectors on the drivers side to support tow bar electrics), do I join the light fittings to the connectors below the vehicle or do I somehow squeeze all the connectors through the hole and have the joins “in” the tub (i.e. in the...

    new wiring loom question

Do i need to have the front wings back in place before i install the new wiring loom, or does the loom go on attached to the chassis. I assume the headlights/sides etc need the wings, but can the rest go on?

hard top with/without soft top option

Not really. I tend to spend more on my projects than the car is worth. It is a hobby. I have had a few convertibles and do enjoy driving without a roof. However I think by the time my landy is ready for the road this year the best weather will have gone. I think I trashed the steering box this...

hard top with/without soft top option

I have noticed that the door rubber seal comes in one long piece that goes around the whole door. If I were to initially have car as open, I would have to cut the seal at the top of them bottom half of the door. Not sure what happens when I put the roof on, will it leak?

    Leaking roof

That's very good of you to offer. I am going to stick with my roof for the moment as I want to keep as much of the original vehicle as possible. I am planning to put it upside down on blocks and then pour some water in it (not too much to be heavy) and see if anything leaks out.

    Leaking roof

The roof i have has got silicon sealant on the outside of all the ribs on the top of the roof. Whilst i know the roof can/will leak in other places, it looks like the PO found that that there were leaks in the main part of the roof, and they put sealant on it. Which looks horrible. 1) do rooves...

    rattle from steering bearing

i pulled the outer off today (undid the bolts onto the box, let the oil flow out and un did the various bolts holding the brackets in). Having got it off, i then used the broom handle to push the (very worn) bearing out. I will get a replacement, fit that, and then refit all the pieces. Best to...

hard top with/without soft top option

Thanks for all the feedback. i am still considering my options. I might initially configure it without a top at all, and put in the mounting brackets. Later i could revert back to the hard top.

hard top with/without soft top option

My car comes with the sides and roof to make the hard top. However, I was wondering whether it was worth making it an option i.e. remove the sides and roof for summer, and put them back on for autumn etc. From what i can tell, the safety belts is the one key area where there is a difference...

    rattle from steering bearing

I am getting closer to being able to put some body panels back on, having just about done the mechanicals. However, when i started the engine today (which did run nice and smoothly) there was a rattle, which i tracked down to the steering. The outer skin of the steering rod is firmly in place...

    steering box cover location

The steering box cover that i removed i think was completely rotted through - i have bought a replacement which i need to paint before installation. However, i have tried every location and i can't work out where this cover fits - all i can think of is that it becomes a bit more obvious once i...

Where to position a relay box

I think i prefer that position on the photo - next to the coil is above the engine and that is likely to get hot.

Where to position a relay box

To the passenger side of the coil looks free. It might need a bit of care mounting but that space looks free.

Where to position a relay box

It is 14cm L, 8cm W, 10cm H and it is splash-proof. The battery i have fitted under the bonnet is about 15mm longer than the standard size. It does fit but i don't think there is an obvious way to get this relay box to fit there. I could put the relay box under a seat, but that does mean...

Where to position a relay box

I have bought a generic relay box: has 5 relays and corresponding fuses. My plan is to use relays for the heads lights and maybe the heater fan. I am not sure where to locate it, as it is not tiny. I and worried I will fit it somewhere and then later find when I fit everything else onto the car...

In the end I decided to pull out through the chassis. Took a few minutes.
