Thanks mate I'll give the Web site a visit and see what's what. To be honest now he's getting a bit older more and more work is required at home on a computer so I might just have a look at replacing it with an updated one. Do you think for a couple of hundred we could get him a decent one. Any particular makes etc that stand out. Apart from getting one with say a min of 3 gb?
    Hi ya ..

Right There's the main issue right there .. 1GB Ram and Win 7..UN HAPPY marriage LOL.. Win7 is very thirsty on resourses.. I beleive win7 needs a Minium 2GB to be happyish to run.. 4GB would be great .. only having 1GB I wouldnt have thought you would be able to run more than 1 Application at a time without it crashing ..

Pop onto Mr Memory.com I use this website to do a Memory scan is I am unsure which to get .. this will also tell you what is the maxium memory it will take..
If its a OLD ISH PC and will only take upto 2GIG hence being a 32bit Mother board. it will take 4 gig.. but the system wont see it as 4.. but it should still run as its got 4GB onboard..

If you need more INfo TXT me on 07795533305
    Hi Jon

thanks for your reply. I'll have a look when I get home and let you know . But from memory it's a 1 gb of RAM and is Windows 7. I did have Mcafee installed on it which we paid for but that for some reason completely made the computer inoperable for some reason so I uni stalled it which helped speed it up a little. It tends to be when he is using Microsoft Word and power point for his home work. Sometimes it runs fine then other times the computer just freezes and it has to be manually turned off.
I see that you are a PC engineer. My son's computer seems to be running extremely slow despite de fragging and the usual cleaning up etc. Do you have any ideas for a good programme to install to sort it out? Ideally one that's not going to brake the bank like my Freelander lol.
