  • Hey Mike, I saw your post on 9 October 2017 about having a bonnet-mounted spare on your Td5. Can you provide any info on the mount you used and whether you had to make any engine modifications/bonnet modifications to make it fit?
    Hi,
    Sorry for the tardy response...
Yes it was without a doubt the copper injector seals that were the cause in my case. Take great care when reassembling, the sealing faces must be clean and take extra care not to nick an o ring when refitting the injectors. I had a large CO2 fire extinguisher to hand when started for the first time after rebuilding. I figured that dumping that into the air intake would stop a runaway. As it was all was well,
    Good luck,
    Mike.
    Hi Mike,

Just read your thread regarding your injector seals and smoky TD5 back in 2012. I have the same/similar problem in that it only smokes when idling and pulling away not when running. Could you just confirm that the injector seals fixed the problem once and for all (BTW rebuilt my turbo first). it also misses for 5 seconds when starting from cold (below 10 degrees).

Hope you can help Longclose (Cary)
