  • Sorry to bother you but i'm looking for some info on how you hand painted.
I have paint from PaintMan and brought Hamlton Prefection paint brushes. I paint in garage. i load the brush sparingly but find the coverage very small. i reload brush, but, as i blend into the previously paint its all sticky. i then end up trying to spread treacle about and the paint pulls, puckers and becomes a mess.
    Any tips please.

    No problem at all.
It sounds like the paint is skinning too quickly. When I did mine first time I tried a panel the sun was out as I thought that the right thing to do. The sun just made it skin really quickly and your description of treacle sounds about right. When i painted the car properly I chose a cloudy overcast day. How hot is it in the garage?

How big is the brush? I think I was using something like a 2 or 3 inch brush for the panels and covering a panel pretty quickly. You have to work quickly but carefully if that makes sense. Maybe the brush is too small and it takes you to long to cover a panel?
Good luck, let me know how you get on.

Thanks very much for the replies! Its a 2 inch brush. i suppose the garage is room temperature. but yes your description "Skinning" is spot on. i have trouble from the 1st brush stroke. 2" strip about 6" long then i struggle to spread that out. how many coats do you give it? how long between each coat? do you sand down between? cheers
