Tucking the landy up for winter?

Hi folks just after a bit of advice really, am heading off to france in a couple of weeks to work out there for 5 months, unfortunately the landy isnt coming to play in the snow so i need to stash it away. Got a space in the barn i usually use however i just wondered if there is anything i need to do/prep to maske sure everything stays in good order? Obviously when i get back i am planning on doing all of the oils and filters etc etc, the barn is locked and dry storage so shouldnt rust . Any advice would be good, cheers

dont forget to turn yer lights off or they'll flatten the battery - bout all you need to do

Disconnect the battery. Drain the tank or fill it right up to stop condensation forming in the fuel. Put it up an axle stands or wooden blocks so the tyres dont suffer. Chain it to the floor so nobody pinches it. Keep the doors and windows shut so the chooks dont roost in it. Other than that it should be alright for 5 months under cover.

When you get round to starting it for the first time disconnect the fuel solenoid and turn it over a few times until you get oil pressure before starting.

Sounds simple enough to me cheers folks. Should be safe in there, there bentleys, mercs, and some ltd edition stuff in there so hopefully my landy wouldnt be a thieves first choice!! Itl be insured anyhow! Minty thanks for the offer, unfortunately i have had about 347 other applicants for a good home! Haha

Its not my barn! I wish it was! It belongs to a friend who rents it out to local rich boys with toys, as iv known him years iv blagged a space for my landy..nice company for it though...oh and a super cool rolls royce corniche is in there too. Mite try and pick the keys to summit else up instead of the landy when i return...maybe slip it under a bentley cover in place of one, the perfect crime!

> As mentioned above, absolutely brim the tank and add a fuel stabiliser then run the engine to get stabilised fuel right through to the engine - not sure if the stabiliser is suitable/necessary for diesel
> Remove spark/glow plugs and add a squirt of oil into the cylinders then turn engine over by hand once
> Remove battery and leave indoors connected to a battery charger/maintainer
> Drain oil and refill with cheap stuff, overfill too - but don't turn the engine over once this is done

This may be a bit overkill but you can garantee when you return to it and reverse the storage procedure it will be fine...
Maybe also get one of those condensation buster things designed to go on a window sill and stick it in the car.

I also smear every bit of metal on the bike in grease, but i didn't think that necessary...

Oh yeah, check the airbox before you restart too!

If you put it on stands put them under the chissis take the weight off the springs
