Steering lock/ignition

Just went out to start my land rover discovery 2.5tdi n reg,steering lock has been sticky but appears to be stuck now therefor cannot turn ignition any ideas.

try rocking the steering wheel back and forth while trying to unlock.

Wiggle the steering wheel left to right while trying to turn the key, next time park with the wheel just off centre so the lock doesn't engage..

two or three drops of three in one oil or a shot of spray grease

Only do this if you wnat you ignition to f**k up at some point in the future. (sorry Fanatic). Locks need to be dry lubricated with graphite or similar or the oil attracts dust and clogs up.

It's easy enough to take apart and fettle with a file to loosen it up a bit.

DIY crap magnet

take your key out, then put it back in again.

sure i read somewhere (probably on here) that its something to do with the pins wearing

sean for your ****, all this graphite is bollocks, if it's stuck it's half ****ed and dry lubing does fook all on locks exposed to damp or jammed

so you think that blatting it with oil and turning it into a crap magnet (and thus bringing on it's demise all the sooner) is better than giving it a bit of a rock to get it loose again ?

Funny how this was the accepted method at college, while not wishing to go down the route of mine bigger than yours.

But Your attempt to wind me up are failing, in fact picking an argument is both futile with me (you can not win)

i didn't need to wind you up at all .........

firstly i was wondering why when someone asks a question on another thread about GB over heating your first response is to assume it's a wind up

and all i have done on this thread is to disagree with the advise you have given (as has someone else)
