Hi All, I'm the new boy so please be gentle.

Ever since I have owned my IIa its had a lean towards the drivers side. I know that the orginonal springs are handed but have since replaced these with some parabolic items. These have improved the ride no end, my fillings are now staying in and piles don't hurt, but the lean remains. Spring hangers, shackels etc.. are all good. Any ideas? I don't think the chassis is bent. all the weight seems to be on that side, petrol tank, battery etc.. but I also know that the engine and gear box are also biased to the other side slightly.

Any light you can shed would be much appriciated.

The first question I wanted to ask was, did you install the parabolics yourself or did you have it professionally done? If you did it yourself, do you remember having seen any clearly marked notations designating "right spring, left spring?" or "drivers side, passenger side?" If it were only right-left, did you base your installation orientation on your perspective from the front of the vehicle or the back? A proper set should be marked along with orientation. The short is: is it possible you or the installer got them backwards? It has happened to me. I have had Landy springs reconditioned and if they go back swapped, then your Landy becomes a Leany.

The fast, pain in the butt solution is, mark them now, pull them out and swap them over. You should flatten out. Examine your bushings while you are in there.

Upon checking the condition of the bushings where they bolt to the shackles and frame, see if they are destroyed. I have gotten "brand new" poorly compounded rubber bushings and had them chew up in one week! The new Urethane units are sweet but pricey. These can create a 1/2" to 1" lean.

The last thing I can think of is check to see if there has been any welding at either end of your frame on the saging side...it might look like a patch. It could well be that some of your drunken mates have played a cruel joke on you and backed a cement truck up to your Rover and filled the sagging side with Portland cement! ;) In that case you are going to have to fill the other side now!!

Hello my 2a also leans how can u tell if the springs are in correctly ie is there a left and a right or any marks which are the back and front of each spring cheers
 
Could be that they were not fitted properly, or even had a suspension lift kit fitted and cocked up.
Have a look at someone else's that doesnt lean, and do some comparisons with a tape measure.
 
Thanks all for the tips. The mistery remains but here are a few answers to your questions.
Springs were installed by me with new bushes all round. The lean was also present with the old ( origonal) springs - sinking to the drivers side corner.
Before installing the Parabolics, I checked for markings etc... and phoned the supplier who confirmed that these springs are not handed. If you overlay the original multi leaf springs you can see the difference in arc between sides, the parabolics are the same both sides.
Welding has been done on both sends of the chassis ( also by me), numerous measurments were made and jigs used and all springs handers are all in the right place ( give or take a few mm).

I think the marking and swaping spring advise is perhaps the only way to be sure. If its still wonky, then the chassis must have been bent before 1992 ( when I bought it) and I have re-welded in the distortion. It goes nicly in a straight line and handles really well, though.

The lean is not severe just annoying.
