Just checked my gearbox oil and its slightly low. Am i right in thinking that the oil is MTF-94 to top it up with? Its a 200tdi box, i think it is an LT77, with the reverse at the top left, is that correct? many thanks

Its clear as far as i can tell, think the brown tinge is dirt. Should be fairly clean though as the box was changed less than 5000 miles ago. Am i right in thinking atf is red?

:MTF is red anyway dont know what colour ATF is.
Gearbox oil is not all the same especially in LT77 or R380 gearboxs, something to do with them being a bit notchy especially between first and second. There is a lot written about it on the web and on this forum too. Do a search because I is no eggspurt.:)

Ok, could do with finding the same stuff though because it only needs topping up. Long way off being due a change

if it's an unknown then drain & refill ATF. 'box has internal oil pump designed[since Rover SD1] to run on it...."if in doubt drainit out"...cheap 'n easy:p

I use ATF ( red ) in my gearbox and EP90 everywhere else , as its seams clear ish I know that some oil comps dont colour that grade of oil so its hard to tell what it is unless you put it in yourself and it says ATF on the tin . if it stinks of cats **** drain it out as its EP oil .
Btw ATF red has a slight sweet smell to it .
Hope this helps ? .
