Hi everyone.

I have a few daft questions to ask if anyone can help please, they are quite simple as I'm quite new to the scene.

Right here I go:

Dislocation and articulation

I understand how dislocation cones work however I dont understand what then limits the travel in extream conditions, is it the bumpstops on the opposite side?
If I wanted to fit dislocation cones would I have to remove the anti roll bar?
Does this effect road handling much on a disco 1?
Do I have to fit special dampers for discocation?
Could I buy for example a Britpart 2 inch lift kit (4 dampers,4 springs) and then fit dislocation cones? what else to I need to buy or take into consideration? eg brake lines!

Any help would be great! :)

Oh another question!!!

Rock sliders/sill protectors.
Where do they fit? I can fabricate such things myself but have no idea where they would need to fit to the truck?

Simply because I like to go offroad, more so than the standard disco can cope with! :).

ah right, here's me thinking you were "new to the scene" i didn't realize your driving ability had outgrown the capabilities of a standard disco

I had a zu zu trooper swb 3.1 for a few years that was somewhat (dare I say) better than the disco in standard form offroad, but I joined the darkside due to zu zu mods and parts being silly prices and like hens teeth in the uk.

So back to the original question please anyone? tut! ;)

In what way is a trooper better than a disco offroad? I've owned a trooper and it was rubbish.
 
Depends what he means by off-road as well .. ;)

Mind, I fail to see where an Isuzu would be better in any situation ...
 
Hum, opened a wasp nest!! :doh::doh::doh::doh:

Dont get me wrong the reason I now have a disco is that is will be far better than an isuzu could ever be!!!;) but I cant slag the trooper off!

In my opinion....(thats my opinion):p

It had the same tyres as I now have on the landy, I found the Isuzu has a better engine (3.1td) loads of bottom end grunt unlike the 300tdi where I find you have to rev it a little harder to get it to work. The diffs were more tucked up out the way as were the stearing bars and tended to not get beached like my 300tdi does at the moment. It also had more articulation in standard trim.
I totally thrashed the trooper and never killed it rolled it on its side, jumped it, had water over the bonnet in a small lake, and it just kept on going????? all for 500 pounds! and the jap build quality is better (trim wise) and the electrics are much better!!:blabla::blabla::blabla::blabla::blabla:

NOW YOU ALL HATE ME!!!!:eek::eek:

But as a package, yes I do like the disco more, much more! hence I have one now and hence I asked the questions in my 1st post! (That no one has helped me with!!);)

Anyway the Zu Zu is going to KORC next wk end for its final run, then off to the scrap yard!

Ok ok! I'll become a pariah & help ex-slitty owner....a]not bumpstops ..but lower link arm & shocker..b]remove A/R bar but use H/D springs[yes it'll still roll a bit but drive accordingly 3]you may well have to fit dropped upper location points & longer travel shocks 4]dont buy ****part[but the rumour is they are awareof 'reputation' & working to improve.....Hmmmm?] 5]extended b/lines....yes:welcome2:
 
dislocation cones are a good thing..if youve ever had a spring pop out and have tried jacking the landy up and then to find you cant quite get it high enough and have to resort to gently persuading the spring back in place with a rubber mallet youll wish you had the cones..
 
I dont understand why people have so much against lifts on the disco...

its has advantages, which you all probably know, a very simple one is that on a standard disco if you go in a water/mud hole, you'll be pushing mud with your front bumper, increasing the chance of getting stuck.... if it's lifted...the only resistance you'll have is from the diffs, all the rest will be above..

I know that cause I see it happening often when I go with my mate with a standard disco, to Salisbury plain. Even yesterday it happened.

and yes, I do use my dislocation cones...
