Hi everyone,
I want to fit good comfortable seats to my Defender for long distance driving but cant afford the Exmoor Trim stuff.
Does anyone know of any good seats from other vehicles that can be fitted easily and ideally still give access to the battery etc?

I fitted disco 2 seats to mine. Have to admit access to battery restricted but can still get jack etcetera out from under drivers seat. Very comfortable and person sitting in middle seat in back has two handles for when offroad. Cost 60 quid the pair.lee

Trewy fitted Subaru seats in his & I've got tilt & recline bucket seats in mine. Most Metro/Maestro and probably rover seats will fit in. I had Vauxhall Senator CD Full leather seats in the 110. and they were awesome seats. but they had to be fettled in order to get them to fit.

Nice n comfee

Hi All - I am planning to replace m old tired Def 110 seats with new ones, apart from the obvious XS half leathers, Trakkers / Exmor Trims which are awesome but expensive, I am thinking of Citroen C4 seats or Saab 900 classic in black leather, which actually look fantastic - only thing, the usual issue is how to accesss the seat boxes - does anyone know if saab or citroen seat runners would mo ve far enough to grant access or if there are nuts / bolts that allow easy removal (I am thinking rally type products ect)? I was thinking of replacing my defender seats with the Rover 2xx seats but how do you manage access to the battery compartment, the pictures are not clear enough for me to understand if it might be a problem.

Can someone expand / explain

Thanks

the easy answer is to get a plate that goes over the battery box and buy whatever seats you want and fit them to that. Fit the plate to the battery box with some captive bolts and wing nuts so you can undo easily and and lift the wholeseat and plate assembly out if you need to, this works for me and I have a couple of random bucket seats in mine attached this way.

i put a pair of p38 seats in my 110 panel back, had to take the rear bulkhead out and fit one further back where you'd fit the bulkhead for a 130 cab for tub stability, now i got a walk through and luggage space and a rear area the size of a 90.. seats are real comfy with arm rests , and the driving position is great, lifts you up so you dont feel like your stretching to see over steering wheel... i can still get to battery "just " with jump leads , well only the live, earth lead attaches to chassis just under seat box so for jumping in an emergency is no problem.. will soon be moving battery and fitting subs in the seats boxes anyway so that wont really be a problem, another solution to battery access is cut a hole in the side of seat box...easy...
