If anyone has experience of the Arnott II springs over the Dunlop OE items, I would appreciate your comments as Im unsure which to go for.

I have read the Arnott springs may make the car handle a little better!

Thanks.

I went for Arnott Gen 2 all round. the ride is definately a little more supple but that may be because the old bags were shot. Arnott's come with a lifetime warranty which may or may not be worth anything but there does seem to have been a lot of time and effort put into the design from a company that does air springs for trucks, plus they were not a lot more expensive than OEM.

Hmm, doesnt sound like there is a big difference in Gen 2 and Dunlops.

The Gen 3 are probably better, but they are more than I want to spend.

My fronts have cracks in, but dont look too bad, 62k miles.

Its the rear where the leak is, so I might just change the rears with Dunlop and do the fronts at a later stage.

Thanks.

save your money and buy Dunlop, they should last ten years and the fitment is perfect. I've heard of Arnott items leaking due to poor fitment of the original air hose. If you do go Arnott recommend you change the hoses so it's all fresh.

The air line fittings are pretty much identical whether you buy Dunlop or Arnott. I had no leakage trouble with mine when fitting 4 Arnott Gen 2's:D:D:D and the price difference was not that much when I bought mine 2 months ago.

No way the Dunlops will last 10 years, mine were 8.5 years old and shot. The reason for so many EAS faults is down to leaking airbags. If LR were sensible, they would schedule them for replacement at 6 years or 60,000 miles a bit like a cam belt and save themselves and LR owners a lot of grief:mad:

Dunlops were original equipment and are good for at least 65/70k miles. Mine were on for 120k and were not leaking but were cracked so I decided to change them. You wouldn't keep tyres on the car forever and air springs cost half the price to replace. Problem is, the tyre condition can be seen but the springs are out of sight and with most people, out of mind...until they play up.
Personally, I would stick with originals

Well thanks everyone.

I went for the Dunlops in the end, ordered them today, £240 all in, including a full set of clips and delivery.

I bought the Dunlops as the standard seem just fine and the Gen II did not appear to sound any better, and they cost more.

I agree that some things just wear, mine are 8 years old and 62k miles. Only one rear has a tiny leak, but they are definately towards the end of their life.

I will look forward to fitting them now. :)

There is rumours of clearance problems with Gen II's on the rear of the P38.

Personnally I have replaced all 4 using OEM Dunlops on the back and Gen III's on the front. I went for the dunlops as I didn't have the money at the time and I went for the Gen III's on the front to reduce dive under braking as I did have the money the second time.

IMHO there isn't enough to recommend Gen II's over Dunlops as its likely that any repacement bags will outlast the rest of the P38. The Gen III's offer a genuine increase in capability for off roading with the added advantage of rising rate springing to reduce roll and dive.
