Hi just brought a V8 which was fitted into a 90 as standard but it didnt come with a gear box i want to fit it into my 90 which had a 2.5 petrol engine fitted before i have seen some where the engine is tight upagainst the bulk head and some which have loads of room behind the engine but is close to the rad, will this engine fit straight on to my gear box or will i need to get a conversion ring or will i need to fit a RR gear box,
Thanks:confused:

You either need the correct longstick lt77 from a v8 90 or early 4 door classic. Or a conversion plate for a series which should fit your box. although the engine may be a bit tight to the bulkhead this way.

I used a 1990 range rover vogue LT77 box with the fifth gear extension housing off the defender LT77 so i could fit the defender gear linkage. Works fine although it is a bit of a hassle and if you are crap with boxes you would have to pay someone to do it like I did. but I had both boxes anyway so it workedout for me.

And engine is nowhere near bulkhead really. tightest thing is exhausts near chassis.
