New p38 Engine Needed. !!!

My garage has just told me that my engine failure is terminal and I'm gutted. I have only owned my 2000 P38 2.5 dhse for 2 months and just don't know what to do.

Does anyone know of a reputable supplier of reconditioned engines and what is a reasonable price I can expect to pay for one.

I don't know what peoples thoughts are about recon's ? are they worth the money ??

why not look for a good 525tds or omega diesel engine ?,same engine, if you buy complete car then you know the engine is ok,there are afew bits to swap ie sump,engine mounts etc,but cheaper than a recon .

Have you tried calling up the dealers?

I have started to get quotes from different companies and this ones from one I found on the web

1) Supply a fully remanufactured exchange engine for £1595.00 + vat.

2) Supply a secondhand engine with 49,000 miles (approx) for £1350.00 + vat

Ask for the price of a second hand Omega diesel engine, it will be a lot cheaper for the same engine (near as damn it).

For some reason, breakers yards seem to charge a premium for RR bits as they assume we're all rich b*stards, of course the truth is that we're all broke because we spend our money trying to keep our RR's running ......
