I know it may been discussed a lot in the forum but I just to get fresh input to you all. I am thinking of getting Disco but not sure which one. I am honestly like td5 more because the car shape.

Some people said dont get Td5 pre2002 but does it because all pre 2002 already show any sign of unreliability and post 2002 havent shown or they have all the fixes in post2002.

i moved from a 300 TDi to a TD5, in my opinion the TD5 is a much better car all round. Apart from the common air suspension problems(that are easy to sort) it has been a great car, have done 40k in 3 1/2 years and has been great.

Without doubt....TD5. I've owned a disco 200tdi and 300tdi....now have a TD5 and it is far superior. Just buy wisely! Alot more electronics to go wrong on a TD5, so buy one with service history and a folder full of receipts for work done. If your budget will allow it......buy a warrenty!

Personally After the experince we're had with any kind of warranty on cars....I wouldnt Bother.
They're like insurance companies, will happily take your money but when it comes to paying out, they dont want to know surprise surprise...

Anything that (Touch wood wont) go wrong....it wont be covered under the warranty somehow, or they will edge their way out of paying!

If your using it day to day go for a TD5, as above post says, far superior. I have a post 2002 ('99) TD5 and Touch wood has been a great car no problems..... :D

I also have had a 2001 TD5 for past 3 yrs, a few niggles, head gasket, air springs etc but what a car !!

Love it to bits

Good point Rob, don't buy a cheap warrenty...you get what you pay for. I've used Warrenty Wise....and can't fault them. Had probs with ACE, Fuel Regulator, Master Cylinder, gearbox.....all covered and they paid up. Saved me a small fortune!

Good luck in your search......

I havent tried Td5 yet but I tried 300Tdi Manual and Its very scary in around about as its very slow to take off.

Btw darth510 & greycat, what year is your Td5?

The TD5 and 300's will both be slow at taking off...if you want something quicker go for the V8 but then you'll be getting 17MPG if you're lucky.

I saw on the net, 2003 Td5 280000km for AUD15k and 2000 Td5 185000 for AUD15k. Which one should I go for?

I heard 2002 and above is more reliable as the have steel dowel already.
