Well hi guys,

as the topic says my Landy's boot door has stopped responding. When you usually press the handle the back mirror slightly goes down, but this isnt happening anymore.
Is there something I can do to open the boot or all hopes gone?

Cheerio.

oh and when I lock the car ... the horn goes off ... beep like once which happens usually when one of the door is open! Thus indicating something is not locking properly somwhere.

Does this have anything to do with the boot then?

I assume back mirror means back window. :)

The rear door handle is a switch. It signals to the Central Control Unit (CCU) to open the door. The CCU drops the back window an inch to releace the glass, then operates the release solenoid to unlock the door. When the glass drops it release a closed switch so to tell the CCU the glass is clear of the frame. This same switch is checked when the central locking is operated. If it signals open then the horn will churp. This is contradicting I know but it could be the CCU thinks the window is already fully open!

The fundamental question is does the back window operate on the console switch. If so, drop the window then try the door release again. It certainly sounds window related and not a door release problem.

Things to try. Disconnect your battery negitive terminal. Wait ten seconds, then reconnect. Your back window should open fully by itself. Get in the car, key on and command thte window to fully close. This process recalibrates the window position within the CCU. See if that helps your problem.

Dont worry it WILL go wrong again

What’s with the pessimism? Unlike a lot of people here I'd like to think it won’t! And even if it does then its like "any other" niggle on "any other" car. J
I believe in my Landy! Love cruising the beautiful Scottish roads ever since I moved up here from England.

While you can open the tailgate, take of the card and check/lubricate everything inside the door, because taking the card off with the door shut isn't easy.
