Odd device in boot of P38

Been taking some of the trim out of the boot of my 2001 P38 ready to fit a towbar, and i have found an odd device whihc has a robust metal case and a small lead acid battery.

It is deffinatley after market as it is soldered into the main loom rather than being plugged in, my intial thoughts are that its a tarcker any one got any other ideas I will try and get some picks later on.
 
Hope its not a bomb as its now sat on the stairs, it had a big Motorola sticker on it, will get some pics up later on.

If it's got a big Motorola sticker on it, could be a permanantly installed mobile phone unit. Any coax type cable entry for an aerial?
 
No Coax to it, there was a wire run into the headlinning but it has a lead acid battery with it.
 
park it next to a radio mast, that will be easier than getting the bomb squad out!!
it,ll kill the bomb and the car!!!
 
Did mean to get pics but my camera has died, so i got bored an took it apart, i reckon it must have been a tracker.
