Hi I took the batteries out of my key. When I tried to open the car it would not work so I then followed the instructions in the hand book. After a number of attempts using the code on the card which came with the car I can still only open the door with the key. At first when I open the door the alarm would sound, but now the alarm dose not sound and when I try to start the car it says on the dash engine immobilized.
The other thing is my car is a left hand drive. My manual is in English, but I also have one in German as the car is from Germany. The reason I tell this is would I be right in saying the instructions give in the English should I do the reveres as it’s a LHD.
I hope this is not sounding too complicated because I can assure you trying to put it right is bloody complicated to me.
So lots of help please.

the method for undoing the lock is reverse to the uk version i believe, you can follow the american version as they are lh drive and in english, you can find a good method here also you may need to turn the lock 4 times before you enter the code, if your manual states this then you must enter the code after the 4 turns, it is a nightmare to do the first time but when you get the 'knack' then you will do it every time without fail!

hi gavbriggs can you tell me should the door be locked before I do the 4 turns which have to be done before the code?

hi as i read it from the becm demystified article,,
hold the key in the locked position, for 6 seconds, whichever side that may be on your car, then start the procedure with an unlock movement.
if the message "window not set" comes up on the display, open the window fully then close it fully to set the particular window, also make sure the bonnet is closed or the bonnet switch disconnected, (open circuit) hope this helps cos it didnt work for me!
best of british matey.
