used engine oil

after reading a thread on here about using old oil. i started thinking.
at work i've got a few litres of old oil but its got all sorts in it, petrol, white spirit and some thinners. oh and a bit of 2 stroke in. would this be ok to used or would it be best to mix it with more used oil or just leave it alone.

what do you want to use it for?

If it's only a few litres use it to start your campfire.

If itf got **** like thinners in it I wouldn't bother for a few litres.

If you have access to drums of the stuff and its JUST oil thats a different story.

surely your not thinking of using it to put back in an engine?..dont really know what you are asking and what you intend to do with it,if its to be used as engine oil and its contaminated with allsorts only a numpty would put it back in an engine,would you open up your oil filler cap and pour some white spirits petrol and some thinners in it?

i can get lots of used engine oil what would i need to run it in my 300 tdi?

am i missing something here? you want to use old/used oil in your 300? why dont you buy new stuff? old stuff is old for a reason, its degraded and no good for your engine. why are you thinking of using it? are you foreign? that may explain it.

Its the same kinda thing mate. what your gonna have to do is get a special fuel filter, because the oil is of a different kind. the fuel filters on austin mini A-series engines are whats widely used, because they can handle the oil properly. with a 300tdi you should be ok, you can just pour the oil straight into the fuel tank, but if you find you have some rough running, then you may need to use a bit of snake oil in there too, I've also heard people using a Hi-Clone kit in the air system to make it run even better on used oil.

He means, put it in the fuel tank!... thin it down a bit and it should work fine.. might smoke a bit though, and if the tank is dipped by VOSA could be in trouble for not using a duty paid (or bio) fuel.

actually he wont get done by VOSA if he uses it, to get into the physics of it, when you get right down to the molecular structure, you'll find that used oil actually has no Up quarks, only down quarks, which means its electromagnetic feild only flows in the upwards direction, and doesn't swirl like normal structures. because of this, it doesn't register on VOSA's test kits, and it looks like you're using normal diesel! I've done this a few times but I don' have a readily available supply of used engine oil to put it.

well I knew VOSA chemically test for red D but I didn't know the were looking for quarks!

ah see its not the actual quarks as such, but due to the peculiar arrangement of the up vs down quarks, the chemical reaction that takes place when they test oil in fuel cannot occur, so it just looks like normal doozil!!

definately easy to get away with using used oil as fuel

No harm in running simple diesels on old engine oil. It's a perfectly suitable fuel but the injection pump may not like it dirty and too thick. Injection pumps are like women really.

Two things you need to do:
1. filter the oil carefully through filters that are the same particle size catchers as fuel filters. This does not mean nicking a pair of her tights.
2. reduce its viscosity. Adding it 50-50 to diesel would be OK, but otherwise you'll need to cut it with kerosene. About 10% should do it.

watch out when you cut it with kerosene.. I have no idea if kerosene quacks like a duck or not but it is a very grey area when it comes to fuel duty same as if you cut WVO with kero...
