engine troubles

hi all ive got a problem with fuel starvation my 300 tdi disco strugles to rev or revs intermitantly when started from cold then is ok once warm but does the same thing if accelarated hard to around 3000 rpm theres also a ticking noise thats comming from the injector pump area that gets quicker as i rev the engine. has anyone got any tests i can do to check the injector pump of r narrow the problem down

Have you cleaned your fuel sedimentor ?

Underneath near side back axle you will see something looks like a metal can.Dont try unscrew it like an oil filter.There is a nut on top that when undone releases bottom half. Be careful some diesel may fall into your face.Give it a good clean out .There is usualy some snotty stuff inside that blocks yer fuel flow as it moves around.i
