Cracked on with the replacement condenser and compressor to condenser pipe work. The later condensor for the 38 is no longer available but the earlier longer one fits if you change that hose work and lob a couple of brackets off the bottom of the oil cooler. Slam panel, grill and bumper off, turbo pipework off to give access to the hex drive bolt holding the pipe flange to the compressor. Screw driver points to the flange, bit of a bugger to get at. Removing the coolent rad would make access much easier but too much faff for the sake of 5 minutes swearing

Fans off next and I tried them on the new condensor and they just fit with a little flexing of the fan mounting.
Condensor removed and brackets cut off the oil cooler.

The top mounts on the new condensor didn't line up with the slots in the intercooler so they needed elongation.
Tidied up the wiring running across and behind the front crossmember with some convoluted conduit.

Longer m6 screws needed to mount the fans. Just got the turbo pipe work to replace and the front bumper and I'm done.
Will call in at the aircon place tomorrow to book it in for a re-gass.
I'm expecting trouble though, condensor didn't come with O rings and the two I ordered with the new hose didn't fit so I've used the old ones which looked OK.:eek::rolleyes::D
 
same as my one except im not in a heap at the bottom of that one
If you look at the photo you can see I take elf and safety very seriously.
You won't catch me standing on a single pit plank when I need to temporally work over the front.
2 planks at all times stopping me from forgetfully stepping back and dropping down the hole.
I have to take 1 and a half steps back to kill myself.
 
Bloody Good day today - fixed the underlying EAS problem!

Have been struggling with EAS - christmas tree on the height switch, EAS error on the dash, car on its bumps.

I had three EAS modules lying around - left in a cardboard box in the boot when it came back from the garage. So I labelled each one using the complicated method of 1,2 and 3 with a sharpie.

Fitted Module 1 - car deflated itself to the bumps and the dash lit up with the usual warnings.

Swapped for module 2 - success - car came up to full off-road height! Result - it is now drivable. However, still got the christmas tree on the switch and an error message - and I can't control the ride height. So not quite what I was looking for.

Module 3 - just a bare board loose in its case - not fixed and no mounting brackets or location guides - still plugged it in not expecting much - Complete success!
Car went straight to normal ride height, no EAS warning, no christmas tree, and the ride height switch is working - up, normal, access, back up to normal - like it actually should!

Removed the board - got the pop riveter out, ground off the bracket from module 1, riveted board and bracket to the case, swapped the guides from Mod 1 - and fully fitted the working unit - and it still worked which is always a relief.

Bloody Good day - all I need to do now is fix the drivers door lever which broke after I made the mistake of providing some help on here to another members that had broken - same bloody day!

Still, not celebrating yet, all looks and seems ok - but there is always some niggle isn't there?

So, it's finally happened. After all the tales of P38 saggy headliners, the Golden Girl is considering joining the club. It is not sagging very much and right now I have more important parts to fix. Which leads me to wonder if, a syringe with clear glue, put through the lining, and spread around might be a fix for now?

Well i went on my travels today which ended up in me going too view 3 supercharged ones,
Iv seen one im besotted with
None have a towbar on though,
Just need too decide if im going for it and if im keeping the td6 aside or getting rid.

I think you're the first I have heard of on here with a failed EAS module. Good effort!

Glue will come through when you press it into place? Could look nasty
Or you'll not use enough and it will come unstuck again
