Get wheel balancing checked or swap wheels and see if problem moves first!!

Check the obvious/simple things first, but be wary of driveshaft CV (inner usually) wear.

Have you checked to see if the rotor is getting very hot?
Use a queasy bottle of water to spray on the rotor after a fast run. The rotors seldom exceed 150° C with heavy braking, so if the water flashes off without wetting the rotor, it's very possible the caliper is sticking, causing the rotor to over heat and bind.

As I m getting on a bit and lying under a car in winters getting very sore. So in march I give her into a small workshop for brake problem rear.
Recently started very loud noise and vibration at around 50.
Had an early finish on Friday so looked at her properly . Starting rear left. Took me nearly an hour to remove the brake drum . To discover the wee pivot pins thamt hold the shoes in place . Non existent. . Few sweary words later new pins drum on short drive noise problem gone.
Moral of the Tory . If you can do something yourself . Do it.

Glad you found this, it has been known, when the pins fail, for the shoes to slip off the wheel cylinder rendering the brake system useless and pistons popping out!!

Yeh, but 4 month old pins do not fail.
If you're working on the brakes shirley you'd replace the shoes and the shoes all come with new pins (I believe). Wonder if the garage didn't put them in, reused old ones or used the cheapest Chinese rubbish they could find.

Indeed! They obviously were not changed.
In the UK the shoes don't come with pins but they are easily available and should be changed when rusty.

Pretty sure the shoes I got came with the pins. I forget which brand they were. The (UK) supplier contacted me to say the brand I selected was on back order, would I take another brand (which was well known but I forget which) so I said yes. When it arrived, they has sent me park brake shoes for a D3! Costly mistake by them cos they didn't want to courier them back and had to courier the right shoes down at their cost. Which they did, fair dos to them, no quabbles. It also included replacement springs, which surprised me cos I'd ordered some genuine ones, so had 2 sets.

I've never seen springs or pins supplied with shoes, and so order them at the same time. It's generally known as a shoe fitting kit.
