Disco 2 TD5 head gasket Matting surfaces .. how clean?

Afternoon all,
the head cleaned up with very little intervention and witness marks mostly gone.
The block however .. is this just perseverance with a wire brush on a power tool or how clean is clean enough?

I wouldn't use anything too abrasive.
Just persevere as if you were cleaning up a dirty pan with burnt on bits, but do protect the bores by putting something in the cylinders to catch all the bits. Scrape it with something hard but not a chisel!
Others will come on with their favourite methods.

I wouldn't use any sort of power tool as you'll get low dips , just a good razor blade scraper and some fine emery roll by hand.
