Evening all

so it’s been a few weeks error free and decent driving until today.

drove to local shops came out started the fatty up , reversed out of the parking spot and it cut out and just turns over but not starting.sounds like no fuel (before anyone asks it’s got 3/4 of a tank of petrol in).

checked the chrieder valve and no air and no fuel pressure at all so guessing In tank pump.car started up on brake cleaner so I know it’s fuel related.

anyone else have any other opinions car is a 2004 l322 4.4 v8 petrol also any reconditions on where to get a pump unit from?

I think there is also an in line pump just in front of the rear wheel arch but I could be wrong.

Have you checked fuses and relays,,crank sensor ,but if its running on gas its not that :(,,,I had a vauxhall in 3 months ago and it turned out to be bad connections on the in tank pump wiring loom, bitch to find as it ran fine then wouldn't, could try banging tank while someone cranks it ,might narrow it down  :D

Just an update so today managed to spend 5 mins on it and come across the following

firstly fuel pump fuse checked all ok
Then checked the power input to the relay and have 12volts
Bypassed the relay and gave it a 12v feed and can’t hear the pump priming

So tommorow I’m going to check voltage at pump plug and from there replace pump

Give the fuel tank a bang, sometimes it can jolt it and start running. Could be a duff pump at the end of the day. The extra water content in modern petrol is slowly starting to cause more issues with cars that stand for periods. :)

Ok so the plot thickens

So….. bare with me here

fuse for fuel pump ok
Really removed and tested all ok
Power to relay feed ok
Power to coil on relay ok
Earth to coil on relay I’m experiencing 3.6v ‍♂️(Enabling the relay to not open to power the pump)
After researching online came across a blue relay related to fuel under the bonnet tested that relay
and all ok

now I’m being told the black and purple wire from the ecu signals the fuel relays to power up but I’m seeing two black and purple wires can anyone shed any light?
