Bought a Velar yesterday, Engine light on today

Bought a 68 plate Velar yesterday with 23k miles and engine lights came on today. Did not buy from a land rover dealership but just a "regular" dealership.

Waiting until Monday to bring it in for a checkup with the dealership i bought it from but booked a mobile technician come over in the meantime to run diagnosis and came up with all these faults below, technician unfortunately wasn't too sure himself what the issue is.

Any advice on how to interpret these codes and what to tell the dealership on Monday to look for/fix?

In general we would say welcome.Or burn it but at the moment it’s the dealers problem

The faults need clearing then see what comes back. BUT let your dealer do that, and it should also be done with good diagnostics, LR approved.
There are many there that could probably be ignored once cleared. But some will come back.
I have no idea which 1 would turn on the light but suspect something in the engine control module.
Good luck and please tell us what the problem was when the dealer fixes it.

Thanks, will do. Not seem to have luck with Range Rovers, this the second one in my lifetime that has issues pretty much straight away after buying.

Went to Jaguar over the last year's and thought I try my luck with Range Rover again, well....

As said, get the codes cleared and see what comes back

plus 1 , also thought that regarding battery , particularly with those error codes, also wont hurt getting the alternator checked

indeed as others have said , get it back to the place u bought it from, alas not sure if u have 2 x batteries fitted , ie if it has stop start

The Velar is a Jaguar in a LR suit

I'd be getting wm to fix it with a view to rejecting it if they can't sort it. Hopefully it is just a battery but the motors only 4 years old.

Back to the dealer for full "no cost" fix and if it still plays up, reject it and get your money back.

Document everything that is done and said at the dealership, never know if you may need it.
Can you get the battery tested independently?

Went to the dealership today and they cleared the errors (for now), mechanic said the light would have come back on if it was a "serious" fault and I drove back home (5 mins ish) without any issues, havent had a chance to take it for a ride today but will hit the motorway tomorrow to see if any lights come back.

Funny that some of you mentioned the battery as when I got the car it kept saying low battery + low battery smart key, changed the key battery but low battery remained and read that because the car was sitting for a whole it needs to be driven for an hour or so and that seemed to fixed the low battery error

I'm actually planning to take the car in to an official land rover dealership to get a health/diagnosis check done if the engine light comes back, just so I have some genuine diagnosis/report which I can then show the dealership.

With a new to you car sitting having a play with all the toys and doors open will soon flatten the battery for you, i have seen people playing with auto doors and tail gates and the radio on checking everything out then opps wont start

If it's been sat around for a while before you bought it then the battery could have been very low, giving all the errors. Depending how low, if they needed to jump the car etc then the battery could well be on its last legs. Definitely worth getting it tested by someone who knows what they are talking about (not Halfords etc)

if u do that ask them to double check the voltages with the engine off and then with it running

After everything has been resolved , Would be beneficial to get ur own battery charger , CTEK are very good, plus diagnostics wise gap iid are about the best u can buy and save u a fortune with every little light that may pop up , alas there not cheap around £450 but pay for themselves very quickly and so handy to have ur own as u then don’t have to mess around with garages everytime , ie, it only needs 3 x visits to the dealer and the gap iid will be paid for

If I may add be very careful with a main dealer as they may try and sell u things u might not need , just make it very clear that u just want a full health check, prices on any things they see that may need replacing , just make sure there told not to do any work under any circumstances without ur prior permission

Many modern landies are extremely power hungry , many of us have replaced our interior bulbs with LEDs

Plus I expect that velar has stop start , so will have 2 x batteries , which I assume will be the originals and already 4 x years old

As ur velar has a battery monitoring system and has already shown low charge , maybe u could get the seller to replace both of them due to there age and prevent issues down the road, then buy a ctek battery charger and give both of them an overnight charge

oh and before I forget I assume ur velar came with at least 2 x key fobs , if not get them to supply u with another one as it’s not cheap , heard some costing £7-800

LR diagnostics use historical codes as a clue to issues.
Simply clearing codes removes the ability for SDD too look back in time, which seriously hampers its ability to diagnose the issue.

Looking at all those sensor codes, I reckon someone has been randomly unplugging things to identify an issue, which isn't the way to do it.

Modern LRs need good diagnostics, both the person looking at it, and the equipment used, SDD or the IID being pretty much essential.
