Every time I lock the doors on my project Disco the horn sounds for a split second. I thought that this was just some feedback so you knew the car was locked but having RTFM it seems that the car is "mislocking". I assume that because I no longer have any rear doors and have just cut out all of the loom that I don't need that be BCU is not seeing the rear doors lock? The two front doors lock OK.
It's really annoying having the car beep every time I lock it so is there a way to silence it?

My understanding is like the D1 or as u have super locking a D2 its the alarm sounder not the horn that gives the mis-lock sound that indicates a door/ or bonnet is open, ie, the door or bonnet pin, being open, the circuit is now closed and nothing with the D2s super lock function.

I sure that another D2 owner will be along soon to confirm :)

A "mislock" sounds IF:

The vehicle determines that:
Tailgate/Boot, Bonnet, Sunroof or door is open when a locking action is attempted.
Basically anything that has a "switch" associated that says Open/Closed.

My P38 gives a "Double-Chirp" on the Battery Back-up sounder under these circumstances (because that is how I have set it).

I doubt that the Disco is wildly different regarding "mislock".

The door open input to the BCU is closed to earth switch sso if you have cut the looms from the rear doors and the wires are not short circuit to earth then the misslock warning is coming fromthe bonnet or one of the front door switches if you see what i mean. Also the misslock warning has nothing to do with the locking of a door but it occurs when a door or bonnet is not closed even if the latch is locking so if you unplug a door switch that one will not trigger a misslock as the circuit is open if yoy see what i mean.Try to unplug the bonnet switch first cos that's the most common and if the misslock stops there's the problem.

On the D2 the sunroof is no factor

On my D2, if I just unlock, open and then close the bonnet, then relock it, I get a beep on the alarm. The only way to avoid it is to turn the ignition on for a second or two, then off and lock. Do they all do that? Can't think what the point of that would be.

Forgot to check this after work yesterday. Just done it this evening. Bonnet closed - no honking. Now I know what that switch is for on the passenger side inner wing. Thanks people.

Mine does that as well. I've never worked out why.
