Totally gutted for you after all that hard work. But the Landy looked after you. Glad you’re okay to see another day.

Rest up dude that was a bad one...speedy recovery but you'll be a bit sore for a while but your still here though...

Going to do a rebuild on this forum?...lol...

Hey guys, sorry. Insurance now informed of the incident.

I'm doing alright, got my lovely finance looking after me as well as friends, family and workmates.

Fractured both C6 & C7 vertebrae in my neck as well as broken my nose (not badly though), few cuts and scrapes but nothing major.

Roll cage, rock sliders and my bucket seats not only prevented further injury but 100% saved my life. Unfortunately the 110 is a total write off, I had to delete the pictures because I can't bear to look at them and how I walked away from such a wreck. The comment from the fire brigade that stuck with me was "is it a convertible"... That should give you an idea. There wont be a rebuild thread is it will be Cat A or B for sure.

As to how it happened I don't know, last I remember was leaving work, next thing I knew I was sideways covered in blood cutting my seatbelt off.

At this point im not sure if I want another Defender, the 110 was 6 years of hard work, huge amount of cash and time to get it exactly where I want it and I simply don't have the time, space or free cash to build something like that again. Maybe more of a lower spec one but we shall see how things go and what comes from insurance. Maybe again in the future.

You’re safe, that’s the main concern. It’ll take time to get over this. If you get another defender, get one when you’re ready. Personally, I think you built one of the best landies I’ve seen, and that’s after nearly thirty years in the Land Rover community. Others will say the same. Thanks for sharing your build with us, it’s been a great read and we’ve really enjoyed seeing it progress. But for now, concentrate on you.

So sorry to hear, gutted for you mate.

Its not the end of the world. Im damn sure im going to miss that car like an old friend. 1000s of memories and met so many great people because of it.

The 110 has been released, so i can organise collection from today. Get it taken back to mums house and see what parts I can salvage to either sell or put toward another project.

In the mean time tax has been cancelled (should get 11 months back), private plate removed and breakdown swapped to my GT86.

Just the headache of insurance now and the fight for what its worth....

You were last having it delivered back to your moms
Did you salvage any parts?

Ahhh insurance collected it. Its a Cat B write off and still on going, so will find out at some point soon.

So he has! Glad you told me, I wouldn't have paid any attention to a Disco thread....

Haha usually id say the same! Now I own one!

Enjoying it so far

Holy sh!t. Haven’t been keeping up too well with threads but glad your safe and on the mend. You realize cars etc are just material things when you walk away from a bad one! Yeah it sucks but life is so precious!

So insurance is finally sorted and payout received.

I was driving home from work, one minute everything was fine, the next I was on my side wraped round a tree covered on blood.

Managed to cut my seatbelt off and fell from the drivers side to where the passengers side was. Then realised quite how serious it was, lay down and waited for help.

Very luckily was found by a minibus of nurses coming back from cricket. Who where all amazing, kept me warm and rang my fiancée.

Paramedics arrived and the firebrigade who where all incredible and so kind.

Got to the hospital with a broken neck, nose and a few cuts and scrapes. Neck was a stable fracture and only required a 24hour neck brace for 3 weeks, nose was fixed by a plastic surgeon who happened to be in A&E. No lasting injuries bar a small scar on my nose, which is amazing.

You can see the roll cage intact just around my seat.

The fire brigade, paramedics and doctors all said the car saved my life, the roll cage, bucket seats prevented further injury.

How im alive with minor injuries is a miracle but im here!

Im devastated at the loss of the 110, feels a lot like loosing a friend but all the work I put it in, all the heavy duty parts all contributed to saving me. Cant say I would have walked away from a similar crash in a standard Defender.

Its a awful that 7 years of work has come to such an abrupt and painful end but Im moving forward got a D2 (as you can imagine Def insurance is rather high!)

Thank you to everyone that helped with advice and motivation over the years, much appreciated.
