P38A P38 Gearbox fault and traction failure

Hi guys.
So today I started to play with the car. The battery was flat so dealt with that and got some life into her.

I had all the windows not set faults so I cleared them by putting them down and back ect.

literally the second they were all “set”

I’ve had a gearbox fault flash up and a traction failure.

any ideas .?

Could still be a low battery.
Make sure of the voltage and it’s fully charged.

That’s defiantly the case. The battery’s seen better days And has a drain issue somewhere I just charged it enough to get the windows closed and that’s how it all started.

I’ll pop a brand new one on next weekend and see what’s what.

As above low battery always throws transmission faults

Mkae sure you fully charge the new battery before fitting it. As the others said, that fault is likely low battery volts.

In honesty I think I need to work out where the drain is before replacing the new one as I’d like to charge the new one pop it on and it keep a charge for a while lol.

Do the BECM sleep test. If the BECM is not going to sleep, odds on it's the RF receiver keeping it awake.

And dont for get to get the biggest battery an MF31

I’ve tried searching BECM sleep test for a guide on how to conduct it but couldn’t find anything. Can anyone help ?

I’m sure they do. I’ve managed to get a different brand (which I’ve not heard of ) but at the end of the day it’s the same dimensions and is 1000cca and 110AH so that should be an improvement

Platinum 642X is very good. Only a tad more expensive. I've lost count of how many years mine's been on there now.
